    .This is a unique orchestration by Bernard Herrmann - it is remastered from the original optical soundtracks which were from multiple mic positions and therefore allowed true stereo though it was recorded in 1951...

    The other interesting thing is how all the electronic instruments are played in real time each by a separate musician - quite different from mixing MIDI with orchestra - and it makes for a more organic sound from those instruments which included two theremins, electric violin, electric bass, electric organ. The rest of the orchestra was multiple harps and pianos, percussion and brass - no strings or woodwinds.
