Hi!

I falled into the temptation and bought the Synchronised versions of Special Edition during the campaign this last Easter. Started to explore the SynchronPlayer-plugin in connection with Vienna Ensemble Pro and came across an issue which I cannot find any solution to yet (hopefully there are): Namely, if you are working with an orchestral score and have set up a score in Finale with for instance a staff/channel for Flute 2&3 which calls the third player to change from flute to piccola - how to change it in the SynchronPlayer-plugin?
In Vienna Instrument Pro it is possible since you can load more instruments than one per plug-in and change between the instruments by Key-switch, but how to do it in a SynchronPlayer-plugin?
Hopefully there's a solution to this.

Regards,

Anders Nilsson

Hi Cadenza,

You can load multiple instruments in the Synchron player as well. I would do it this way (if you want to use the default presets):

1. create 2 Synchnron player instances. One with default Flute preset, second with Piccolo.
2. Copy the preset (right-click > copy root slot) from the first Synchron player instance of Flute.
3. Click on + next to the first articulation (staccato) and paste the root slot to the new dimension tree.
4. Delete additional articulation in the first column (except the first one).
5. Copy the Piccolo root slot and paste it to the first column, but the second slot.
6. Rename the slot according to instruments. (You might want to create a second output channel for the piccolo in the mix tab, and route the piccolo articulations to this channel + copy the mixer settings from the piccolo default preset to the new Flute/Piccolo instance, to have the right impulse response and reverb amount. OR you could leave it as it is - this way, the Piccolo and Flute have the same impulse response - and therefore position on stage!)

I'm not sure, though if it works in a notation program. Here is the preset to make it more clear:

Hi Erik!

Thanks for you help, but there must be a easier way to do this? As described by you, I have to do this for every single articulation? If so, it is much easier with Vienna Instruments Pro. I guess it depends on the difference of architecture between VI and Synchron, what you actually loading as presets vs patches - it is different, as far I can see.
Anyway, thanks for your help!

Hi  Cadenza,

no, you don't have to do it for every articulation. You just have to copy one instrument's root slot and paste it on the other instrument. :)

Hi again,

Oh, I missed that probably! You wrote ¨copy root slot¨ but when I right-click on the slot I got only ¨Copy slot¨ - what am I missing?

Hi,

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the right-click should not be on the slot with articulation but on the blurred background.

Hi!

Aha, thanks! I will explore this right away! So, the only way to create and save an instrument with an auxiliary instrument is to do it by the plug-in within Vienna Ensemble Pro? It seems not possible within SynchronPlayer standalone?

Again, thanks for your help!

Anders

Hi,

I've checked it and it is possible to copy a root slot in standalone Synchron Player as well. The orange area in the attachment is where you should click to access the copy root slot option.

Hi again,

Yes, thank you, I know where to click to ¨Copy root slot¨, but it doesn't change a bit for me. Following the steps in you first description, which was applicated on Vienna Ensemble, but now in SynchronPlayer results that I get only one instrument's different articulation and the first one's is gone (staccato). I've now sent a message to the support with a request for help. I appreciate your kind assist but since I'm new to the different architecture of SynchronPlayer, compared to the one of Vienna Instruments Pro, I need it explained for me how it works. The videos are not so much of help in this issue, since they are explicit made for the Synchron Librarys.

All the best,

Anders
