  • An Update to the Q: one instr/instance in VEPro?

    Hi

I try to find the best way to set-up my DAW. Currently it's Nundo/Logic but I have been looking to Studio One a lot lately.

I have one MacPro Traschcan and 2 servers both running VEPro 7. I have been longing to simplify my set-up for a long time and I want to keep the servers but I constantly switch between a set-up with 3 instances on server 1 holding woodwinds, brass and strings, and 1 instance on server 2 holding all percussion. This is the set-up I use with Nuendo. With Logic I want to take the simple route, one instrument/instance, but I have quite a lot libraries so it will take some time to set-up.
And then to the question: Is there any update to the question, about which way is the right one? At least is the instrument/instance solution viable with around 200 instances?

    Regards

  • Hi Stig,

Some questions will always have many answers.... It really depends on what you're after and what feels best to you.

    Hi Paul

I think you got away far too easy here!
I don't need to "feel" anything in this matter! 😉

What I am after is the most efficient set-up meaning, will VEPro run more efficiently with say 3 or 4 instances, each holding 30 - 50 instruments - Kontakt and SY Player - OR with every instrument in it's own instance, making around 100 - 150 instances.

Naturally not all instruments are loaded all the same time, many of them will just stay idle, waiting to be launched.
So my Q is: Will that amount of instances 100 - 150, even if 30% of them will hold an instrument that is disabled, bring VEPro 7 to its knees or is the load on the system equal to the other set-up, with 3 or 4 instances holding all the instruments with around 30 to 50 each?

    Best Regards Stig

  • Hi Stig,

Less instances will provide a more efficient performance.
