  • And now, Ensemble 7 Server AU plug-in for iPAD...

Now that Dorico (and probably tomorrow Sibelius) are available on this increasingly powerful tablet (2TB, M1 processor?)   I want to bring my favorite VSL over.  Loading the sounds seems ominous (though I can attach a 4 or even 8TB thunderbolt drive to my iPad).   But at least with a VE Server AU plug-in, we could tap into the network (the Thunderbolt port can support 10Gbit LAN plus Thunderbolt storage simultaneously through at least 2 available hubs).

Rather than having to deploy these individual apps, a Vienna Ensemble Server AU plugin for iOS could allow folks to access their entire library of sounds, VSL and otherwise, through Ensemble 7, making it THE indispensable link from iPad to Desktop DAW stations!

Sibelius and Dorico users would thank you for it.  Hell, Sibelius and Dorico programmers would thank you for it.

And of course, I would be delighted!

Throw it on the pile, I know - just my - $0.02 cents...

    Sound like fun, anyone?

    Eric

  • Absolutely!

The current approach by Dorico and Sibelius is a non-starter without a tool such as what you describe. It seems to me, an avid iPad Pro user, that something like VEPro server as plugin for iOS is inevitable…just a question of time. In the meantime, the only sounds that I find usable on the iPad are those within StaffPad. These are nowhere near as good as any of the VSL libraries, but the ability to compose while previewing within StaffPad makes it so I won’t use Dorico or Sibelius for iPad until there is a way to access better sounds.
