I haven't been on the Forum much but thought I might mention this page of my compositions which - oddly enough - are all VSL! I have been putting music on other venues but only recently started with Bandcamp, so if anybody wants to hear some VI/MIR things here are a few -

  • Thank you very much, William. A lot of great examples on how to use these instruments — and of great music!

  • Hi William,

Glad to hear something from you!

This is a huge and valuable collection of fantastic scores. I've just finished listening to "Tomorrow", a great symphonic poem. I don't think I've heard it ever before, but it is a true sonic adventure, masterfully orchestrated. The final theme is simply stunning.

Is this collection something like your musical testament? Anyway, it really is quite an achievement of knowledge, art, experience and musical taste. No matter how one looks at it, it is a laud to the VSL libraries and true artistry!

    Thanks for sharing your collection,

    Jos

  • Oh, yes you can download those !  Thanks.

  • Jos thanks a lot, I am a fan of your music so that is great to hear. I am just trying to put things on various available venues and that is one I hadn't known about before.  They advise people to get followers - ha-ha! I think I may have one.   Anyway I'm adding some more stuff later.

  • Hi William, Thanks for sharing this beautiful collection! I have enjoyed it specially the romantic Symphony. Asaad

At the very least, Bill, this gets you up to two!

    Tom

  • thank you asaad I appreciate your listening!

  • Tom, thank you.  It's an honor to have you as a "follower" though you are a horn player, so naturally I am a bit nervous.

  • William, so glad you've found a platform that presents your works in such an impressive, attractive and convenient way. (And I'd say it's surely a case of "handsome is as handsome does". Oh hey, I'm old enough to say that about a young lad such as you, lol.)

I've been able to easily dip into a couple of my favs, especially Song of the Forest, as well as exploring further. And I know I'll return often for further enjoyment and inspiration from your collection. All thanks to you.

Incidentally, a question popped up. What do you think generally about submitting purpose-written orchestral works to music libraries nowadays? I've noticed that many, many YouTubers now seem to be making a lot of use of library music (mostly in non-classical, non-orchestral genres); the musical quality of which seems to have improved substantially over the years. I suppose what I'm curious about is - would you say there's nowadays an improved or at least enlarged opportunity in those libraries for writers of incidental orchestral music, or is it still the same-old-same-old situation in that area?

  • Thanks, Macker.  I don't know about the library material - the only library music I've done has been for a company that had very specific needs that I happened to have some music for but most of mine doesn't fit in at all.
