These short pieces utilize the Pianoteq 5 VST physical modeling piano simulation. They appear on the CD Earth Music.

  • Hi Jerry,

I loved listening to these pieces. This is so different from what you post and shows great mastery of counterpoint and musical form.

To me the style of these pieces seem inspired by Shostakovich, particularly his sonatas.

    Dear Anand,

Thanks for listening and commenting!   I love Shostakovich's symphonies and have studied some of them but I don't think I've ever listened to his piano sonatas.  Every few years I return to writing short piano pieces as it strips away the whole process of orchestration and allows me to focus on the bare basics: melody, harmony and rhythm.  I'm glad you enjoyed the pieces..
