  • Basic: VEP send all selected instruments to same output?

I'm new to VEP7 and designing my first template from scratch.

I have dozens of instruments loaded up, and am now looking at them in Mixer view.

I select all instruments, then go to their output selection, then select Out 5/Out 6, and the first channel selected gets sent to 5-6, but the next channel goes to 7-8, the next to 9-10, and so on.

I see the help text at the bottom about using ALT or SHIFT. I've tried both. Some do nothing (i.e. I select the output channel, and nothing changes). Some do ascending assignments.

I just want to send them ALL to the same output, and I've tried EVERY possible combination of modifier keys and it doesn't work.

Please help! This is such a basic function it's frustrating me that it's not easy to figure out.

    Hi,

    It's Shift-Ctrl Click.

Here is a list of all shortcuts in the manual (I know, old-school).

    Best,

Thank you Paul; I appreciate the response.

It still doesn't work. I tried grouping, not grouping, shift-ctrl, shift, ctrl, and every other combination. Still doesn't work. Please see my screen cap video:

In my Preferences > Server > Instances, I *do* have "automatically edit selected channels as a group" ENABLED.

Separate question: as per normal UX conventions on both Mac and PC, why can't I click outside the mixer (i.e. in a dead area) in order to unselected the selected channels? This is really counterintuitive.

  • Hi David,

I just checked, and this specific shortcut only works when you have "Automatically edit selected channels as group" DISABLED.

If I click outside the mixer area in a dead area, all selected channels are deselected, just confirmed with the latest version 7.0.1120. I wonder what's different there.

    Best,
    Paul

I still see this but I believe it may be visual only:

    1) Rubber-band-select several tracks in the mixer. As they are enclosed in the rectangle, they change color to a lighter color.

    2) Click outside in a dead area -- they do not change color.

    3) Hit shift-U to unselect -- now they return to their usual color.

    Easily repro'able for me:
