Synchron-ized Starter Pack Strings: how can I get staccato and legato to blend better?

I did a few bars of the Nutcracker Miniature Overture for string quartet, using the Synchron-ized Starter Pack Strings. I'm having some trouble getting the staccato and legato notes to blend. It reminds me of a singer switching between scat and opera. How can I get the staccato and legato notes to blend better?
