    Bonjour,

    Steinberg vient de rendre officielle sa décision de mettre fin à toute prise en charge du format VST 2, d'ici au plus tard 24 mois.

    Les programmes comme Cubase, Nuendo et Dorico, sous Windows, ne prendront en charge à partir de ce moment-là plus que le format VST 3.

    Actuellement, Vienna Synchron Player est disponible au format VST 2.4 et au format VST 3.6.14.

    Actuellement toujours, Vienna Instruments ainsi que Vienna Instruments Pro ne sont disponibles qu'au format VST 2.4 !

    Depuis l'annonce de Steinberg, la possibilité de pouvoir continuer à moyen terme à utiliser les instruments VSL série VI dans les prochaines versions de Cubase / Nuendo / Dorico se pose de manière inquiétante.

    Quand est-ce que la disponibilité de Vienna Instruments et Vienna Instruments Pro au format VST 3, devenue désormais indispensable, aura lieu ?

    Thanks for posting!

    Please install the latest versions of our VSL Software, which all include VST3 plug-ins.
    Exception: Vienna Imperial.

    J'ai déjà installé tes toutes dernières versions des logiciels VSL (pour Windows 10).

    Je maintiens, après vérification, les affirmations suivantes :

    Cependant, l'utilisation de Vienna Ensemble ne me convient pas. L'ajout de cet utilitaire alourdit et rend plus compliqué le fonctionnement d'un DAW, je ne souhaite pas l'utiliser.

    Je demande à VSL de mettre au format VST 3 ses logiciels Vienna Instrument et Vienna Instrument Pro.

    Dans le cas contraire, je cesserai d'utiliser les instruments VST de la société VSL et je me tournerai vers d'autres concepteurs d'instruments VST, avec regret, définitivement. Je ne serai très certainement pas le seul.

    Hi, 

    You are correct, my apologies.

    We will catch up!

    A (dirty) workaround for now is to copy the VST2 plugin, paste it in your VST 3 Plug-in folder and rename it.

    Au contraire, if you are on a Mac, using Vienna Ensemble with Steinberg programs will make speed and memory management a lot more efficient. No idea if it is the same on Windows.

    Je vous adresse mes remerciements Paul pour cette réponse de votre part encourageante pour le présent comme pour l'avenir.

    Nous comptons donc sur vous et sur la société VSL pour actualiser dès que cela vous sera possible les logiciels Vienna Instruments et Vienna Instruments Pro afin de les rendre compatibles avec le format VST 3 exigé à terme par Steinberg.

    Si besoin, j'utiliserai en attendant la solution de contournement provisoire et très astucieuse, en espérant qu'elle fonctionne quand même de façon stable, que vous m'indiquez.

    J'apprécie grandement la très haute qualité et la diversité des instruments Vienna et je suis heureux de savoir que je pourrai continuer à pleinement les utiliser, d'autant que je vous en ai acheté un nombre très important et qu'ils constituent la base essentielle de mes compositions.

    Je travaille sous Windows 10. J'ai essayé Vienna Ensemble, par curiosité. Je ne sais pas si la gestion de la vitesse et de la mémoire se trouvent par ce moyen également améliorés sur un ordinateur PC, mais je sais que cela me conduit à effectuer des actions supplémentaires que je préfère éviter.

    I fully agree, there should be a VST3 version of VI pro soon. Always using it in VE pro is not a viable option at all. It is so much simpler to do everything in the DAW or Notation Software, and what's more there are so many useful features of these Applications one would completely loose when instantiating VI pro directly would not be possible anymore.

    Already now VI pro does NOT work at all anymore in the new Dorico 4 on Apple-sliicon Macs unless one runs it under Rosetta ... which is painfully slow. This is really a pity taking into account that VST3 is around for such a long time (like many other users, I purchased all of my many VI products long after that point).

    Here some VST history (copied from Wikipedia):

    VST 3.0 came out in 2008. Changes included:[8]

    • Audio Inputs for VST Instruments
    • Multiple MIDI inputs/outputs
    • Optional SKI (Steinberg Kernel Interface) integration

    VST 3.5 came out in February 2011. Changes included note expression, which provides extensive articulation information in individual note events in a polyphonic arrangement. According to Steinberg, this supports performance flexibility and a more natural playing feel. [9]

    In October 2011, Celemony Software and PreSonus released Audio Random Access (ARA), an extension for audio plug-in interfaces, such as VST, allowing greater integration between audio plug-ins and DAW software.[10]

    In September, 2013, Steinberg discontinued maintenance of the VST 2 SDK. In December, Steinberg stopped distributing the SDK.[11] The higher versions are continued.

    VSL vient de faire évoluer son système de protection vers le système de licence iLok, comme chacun le sait.

    Mais concernant le présent sujet, la bonne nouvelle n'est pas là. La bonne nouvelle, c'est que Vienna Instruments Pro, dans sa version iLok, par ailleurs nouvellement gratuite, est désormais disponible non seulement dans le format VST2.4 mais également dans le format VST3.6.0.

    Par rapport à Steinberg qui a prévu à moyen terme d'abandonner le standard VST2, l'utilisation dans l'avenir des instruments VSL de la collection VI reste donc assurée dans les DAW tels que Dorico, Cubase et Nuendo.

    Merci à Paul ainsi qu'à toute l'équipe de chez VSL pour cette évolution et pour cette amélioration importante.
