  • Issues after changeing over to iLok

I've recently done the iLok changeover, wanting to get away from the Steinberg Key. Yes, things were working fine , but I made the change anyway.

After re-downloading EVERYTHING (mandated as a part of the change-over), while I am able to open the VEP Server, add instances, instruments, etc., I cannot get it to properly connect to Digital Performer (the latest v 11). This is despite that in the PI window in DP, I do see that VEP Server is open and it will show whether or not I've already added an instance. But when I click on connect (as I've done a gajillion times in the past), now, nothing happens.

I'm hoping that I'm not the only one with the issue. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

  • Me too. But I found a trick that works - in my rig at least.

    (Logic 10.7.3 â€“ VEP 7.1.1226 – Intel iMac â€“ macOS 12.3 Monterey â€“ local host.)

In the VEP client plugin window, a double-click directly on the named instance I want to connect to, does the trick for me. Hope it works for you too.

I suppose I'll eventually get around to raising a Support ticket - but I'm guessing everyone at VSL right now is horribly tired and I really don't want to add to that if I can possibly avoid it.

  • Ok... thanks for the reply.

Double clicking got me a step further, in that an instance would be added to the Server (also 7.1.1226). I'm on Catalina, fwiw. But the individual instruments don't load. I get a curious pop-up in VEPS stating that "The project you are trying to load is invalid". The instances would always auto load in the past., with all of the custom configuring I had done. The saved projects would not load, either, so I'm now worried about having to recreate each Matrix with the extra articulations and such I've added in...

There's also a curious new app called VSLHelper that runs in the background. As for working with DP, the code warriors at Vienna built a MAS version and it had been working great.

    Any of this sound familiar?

  • I'm sorry, this area of I.T. isn't my forte. Wish I could help further.

  • No problem  Like I said, your note about double clicking (instead of just clicking on the connect icon) got me the step further.

  • I found it only connects if I type in the address manually. I think it's 127.0.0.1 on my Windows machine.

I can't use the ILok version of VE Pro since it tells me that it can't load the MAS VE Pro presets.
