  • iLok transition question

    Hello,

    First, I would like to thank the Vienna Team for making this transition smooth and easy for your customers.  I have all the licenses deposited onto my iLok account and am going to begin the software download process soon. 

    I have a question regarding the Synchron Player and VI Pro Player.  Do we have to uninstall these players on our machine if we have been using them with the eLicenser, and then download them via the Vienna Assistant?  I know then are not tied to a license, just the sample material and paid products are tied to a license, but can we leave our current Synchron Player and VI Pro Player on our machine, as long as it is up to date, or do they need to be re-downloaded via the Vienna Assistant, like the paid/licensed products?

    Also - what about VEPro 7?  Should that be re-downloaded via the Vienna Assistant?

    My second question is in regard to the iLok Cloud.  If we elect to leave our licenses on the iLok Cloud, is there any protection plan needed/necessary, or is the ZDT only if they are moved to the physical iLok dongle.  Do they remain protected/insured if they are on the iLok cloud?

    You don't need to uninstall the software. It will be replaced when you download and install the iLok version from the Vienna Assistant. The current (eLicenser version of the players) won't work with the iLok library content, so now, when your licenses are deposited, you also have to download Players via Vienna Assistant.

    To answer your second question, the iLok cloud licenses are always tied to your iLok account. That means that there is no need for the ZDT, as even if you lost your computer, you can log in to a new one with the same iLok account, and the licenses will still be there.
