  • Better value for orchestral work, Synchron Woodwinds or Dimension Brass 1

Hi! I have BBO, Synchron Brass, and Synchron-ized Woodwinds.  Which would be a "better" value/complement for orchestral work, Dimension Brass Vol. 1 or Synchron Woodwinds?  Sadly, I can purchase only one of the libraries.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    With anticipated thanks,

    José Morales

  • It depends a bit on what kind of classical music you want to play or compose, but a string library with as many articulations as possible is essential as well. Maybe that would make more sense than more woodwinds and brass. The two libraries you want don't really add much to what you already have.

In larger orchestral works, you can no longer hear so well whether the wind instruments are divided according to divisi or whether the voices are simply played with the same samples twice (Dimension Brass).

The Synchronized Woodwinds have also been recorded very carefully. You are well served with them.

Strategically, I would work towards having all "Synchron-Libraries" later on. So why not Synchron Strings Pro or Elite Strings?

That's not what you wanted to hear, but maybe the string library thing is worth thinking about anyway.

  • Dear Beat:

Thank you for your prompt response and suggestions.  I forgot to mention that I also have the Synchron Strings Bundle.  That's why my main interest is in finding out what library will bring more to the table in a "regular" orchestral setting, meaning not "epic".

    Best regards,

    Dear José

Then, if I were you, I would save the money for a next bigger purchase.
Or a good piano? a choir? an organ?
Sometimes it also makes sense to improve the hardware. Better headphones, speakers, room improvements, etc. After all, sometimes you make decisions about sound. For that, you should use hardware that lets you make the right ones.

    So much for my recommendations.
