  • Synchron Player iLOK debacle (fresh install not migration)

Yesterday, I was on a quick turnaround for a job - that had to be delivered at end of day.

So, of course, I decided that whilst I already had Project Sam's Upright Bass and Alto Sax - what I in fact needed was Vienna Ensemble's Upright Bass and Alto Sax. The grass is always greener right?

What a colossal waste of time, stress and money that was!

My rig is set up like this.

My main machine is a 2013 Mac Pro Trashcan (3.5 6 core, 64gb of RAM running Mojave using Logic Pro X as a DAW)

I have a PC (AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core with 128gb of RAM) running a ton of samples via Vienna Ensemble Pro (eLicencer Synchron Brass - and based on this experience won't be switching to iLOK anytime soon).

Then there is another 2013 Mac Pro Trashcan (3.5 6 core, 64gb of RAM running Mojave) for Pro Tools and picture. These all run on a local network together.

So - to be clear - my main machine has no prior eLicenser installs on it.

I make my purchase of Vienna Upright Bass and Vienna Alto Sax.

Since it's a new purchase, we go straight to the iLOK route.

I successfully connect my Vienna and iLOK accounts.

Using iLOK license manager, I activate both Vienna Upright Bass and Vienna Alto Sax licenses and move them to an iLOK 2 dongle.

    I download Vienna Assistant.

Through Vienna Assistant, I download both libraries to an SSD physically situated in a BlackMagic Multidock. Vienna Assistant confirms successful installation.

Through Vienna Assistant, I download Synchron Player. Vienna Assistant confirms successful installation.

I open Synchron Player in standalone mode and create and test the sample paths. These are successful (approx 80mb/s)

I go back to Synchron Player and... No libraries. Nada.

I check everything. I redo everything. Synchron Player will simply not show these libraries.

Now. Want to know something interesting?

Although it's not got the same functionality - Vienna Instruments Pro 2 Player DOES open and play them although without the extra functionality that Synchron Player provides.

So - the issue is not related at all to iLOK.

The issue clearly relates to Synchron Player and Vienna Assistant.

    What do we think hivemind?
