  • Can't load Kontakt 6 Player into VEP7

    Hi All

I'm a trial user of VE Pro 7 at the moment, on Windows 10, and I'm trying to load Kontakt 6 Player; this seems to be a thorny topic, but I can find no straight answer on the web. So far I have:

    • Discovered that VE Pro doesn't support VST3 plugins, so I was going the wrong way from the start
    • Tried to discover what Kontakt Player VST2 version looks like, difficult to say - the most likely answer is it's just called "Kontakt.dll". There appears to be no specific installation option for "VST2"
    • Added the only folder I can find containing this DLL to the VE Pro server, from path C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\VSTPlugins 64 bit. This path also contains "Guitar Rig 5.dll"
    • Rescanning in the server results in a plug-in hierarchy of Effect > VST > Native Instruments GmbH > Guitar Rig 5, but no Kontakt
    • In Cubase 11, in the VE Pro instrument, the only plug-in I can add is the integrated Synchron Player, there is no Kontakt

    What I am I missing?

    Thanks

  • Open Native Access and go to Preferences. There you will see where the Kontakt VSTi is installed on YOUR system.

Thanks, I did that, and it's the path I referenced above. I'm still not clear how I distinguish a VST2 version of Kontakt from a VST3 version

  • VST3s are placed and handled automatically, so you don't have to bother worry about them
