  • Shortcut not transmitting to Cubase

    Dear VEP users,

I've used to be able to transmit shortcut to Cubase while having the focus on VEP: that worked great until I upgraded to the iLok version.

    I'm running Cubase 12.0.30, on a Mac Intel, Monterey 12.4, VEP 7.1.1329.

Other with the same experience? Is it a bug? Will it be fixed?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hi,

Can you please add instructions on how to reproduce this, and does it maybe work with Cubase 11?

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul! Great to hear from you! Thanks for looking into it. I’ll get back to you as soon as I’ll get back my Vienna Machine. Thanks a lot for replying. :)

  • Hi Paul!

Thanks for the suggestion: interestingly it works great with Cubase 11.0.41 (which was the last built for version 11).

Could you possibly let Steinberg know about this bug please? I'm sure you guys have infinitely more clout that what my report on their forum could do.

    Step to recreate it:

    1. Open VEP7 Server, (i've got 7.1.1329).

    2. Create an instance, call it Test and add a random instrument, but let's use Kontakt (last version of the full player) in this example. MAKE SURE the "Keyboard shortcut" icon is enabled.

    3. Create a new Cubase 12 project (Cubase 12.0.30), add a Vienna Ensemble Pro instrument track.

    4. Click "Connect" on the VEP7 plugin GUI in Cubase and and connect the instance "Test" on VEP.

    5. Now go on VEP, open the kontakt GUI and load any library.

    6. Now that you have the focus on the instrument GUI within VEP, press "NUM *" (default Cubase for record).

RESULT: nothing happens. EXPECTED: Cubase should start record. Instead of this Shortcut (NUM *) you can use any of Cubase shortcuts, but no one works. The only function that works at the moment is "Space Bar" (play/stop). This works as expected on Cubase 11 on the same exact system.

  • I'm just guessing, but is it possible that in MacOS settings -> security & privacy -> Privacy -> input monitoring cubase 12 is not selected ?

    Hi Kurt!

Thanks for replying, great guess! I checked and Cubase 12 wasn't in the list, so I added it. Unfortunately that didn't fixed the issue on my system. Cubase 11 isn't in the list either but works as expected.
