  • VSL External SSD issue

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who's experiencing this but my external SSD that has my piano samples on it is no longer being read by the synchron player. It's very strange since I've been using VSL for years with the same external SSD and this is the first time anything has happened. Specifically whenever I try to add a sample path within the player, I get an answer saying that my external SSD is not a valid content path. I've tried everything from reinstalling my samples to reinstalling the synchron player. I've already switched to ilok and I've been using the Vienna Assistant for all my installs. I'm not sure what else I should do so any advice or help would be incredibly helpful.

Also, my external SSD is a Samsung T7 touch if that at all helps.

  • Did the drive perhaps change drive letters? That sometimes happen with external drives

  • It didn't change. Is there anything I could do to have VSL recognize the samples loaded onto my SSD? I just did another install and still nothing unfortunately.

  • Have you switched over to iLok or still using eLisencer?

  • I’ve been on ilok for a while actually. It’s also worth mentioning that the drive used to work perfectly on ilok and everything as well. For some reason now, the drive isn’t a valid content path.

  • Just a wild guess - did you buy iLok zero downtime?

If so, if you have their "TLC" option switched on you need to use the license manager to "refresh" your licenses every 90 days.  If the licenses have "expired" VSL will not see the libraries.

Just asking because you say it "used to work" and has now stopped...

  • Unfortunately I'm on an ilok cloud session and refreshed already. Thanks for trying to help though! Its incredibly weird but I just found out that if I copy my sample files to my main SSD within my computer then it works just fine. It's just that my external SSD is for some reason now labeled as "not a valid content path". My external SSD works fine for other things but now for some reason VSL doesn't recognize it .

  • Is your external drive formatted as FAT or NTFS (if Windows)?

  • Its funny because I just realized that I was formatted in FAT. I switched the NTFS but it wiped my contents and samples. I'm in the process of another reinstall now and hopefully this works! Thank you!

  • UPDATE: Thanks guys!! it worked out and the synchron player finally recognized the drive after switching the drive file format. Its pretty weird still that it was the issue considering the drive used to work perfectly on the other format as well. Well I can't complain because now I finally have access to my samples. Thanks for your help!
