  • [SOLVED] Record piano synchron using ASIO low latency drivers on PC

    Hello everybody,

I'm just a pianist using VSL synchron piano via the stand alone player and im using a low latency sound drivers on PC named "ASIO".

Windows drivers are not reactive enough (+150ms) for playing.

Everything is wotking fine except that i would like to record my live and the principe of ASIO is to bypass windows mixer so I am unable to do that.

I m not a composer so i dont have any program like cubase, I just tried with a free software audacity wich is very very basic without success.

How do you record with ASIO (or any low latency drivers availble for PC) ? it there some specific settings or cubase or other software can fix that issue ? I'm looking for a basic solution.

    Thanks for the help

When you think to change PC, get a Mac,

You have a nice music program called Garage Band for free.

I is not as powerful  as Logic but you can do a lot

  • tks for your time.

Hum yes I will consider the Apple as soon as they will have a soul and ethics. We know that there is no end on that topics. hehe.

I just hope to have some PC friends around here. I am quite confident there are softwares working well but I just need a confirmation by user.

    Peace ;p

With Audacity, by default you'd be recording a microphone or some other sound coming INTO your computer, not sound being generated by your computer.

The problem is that Windows audio is oriented to making sound for YOU (to be played on headphones or speakers).  Not for making sound and then directing it back into the computer.

Search google for "audio loopback" to find some ways of doing this.

I use an external Focusrite Scarlett audio interface that has built-in hardware loopback.  (Not all of their models include loopback).

I'm sure other people here can give you advice on loopback (other than telling you to buy a Mac  😕 ðŸ˜‰

    Hi thanks for your answer,

I found another simple solution here below for people who are looking for a solution on PC :

This is Voicemeter Banana ( the banana version is important because I already have the basic version and it was not woriking ) it a free software with a simple recorder. developed by VB audio if you want to google it.

It is just a mixer to handle different drivers and volum etc.

Here is the full explanation with pro tools and obs if you need it :

I'm not sure if my question is in the right thread but, anyway, you mentioned Mac.

I have a quite good PC (i9 11900KF, 64 GB RAM, RTX 3090, good SSD) and I'm still withe de CFX 30-day trial. For what I have read, I consider 5-7ms latency (Reaper using Synchron pianos as a plugin, with 4, 5 or even 6 micrphones) quite impressive.

Since my PC is quite bulky, I'm considering either a Mini PC that would be close to my silent piano OR a Mac Mini / Mac Studio / or even a MacBook (still waiting for an ETA for Synchron pianos to be able to use M1/M2 etc).

So my question is: will the <2021 Intel MacBooks get better similar performance than my current PC?

I tried Audacity, unsuccessfully, as well. For now, I use a DAW called Reaper in order to record the output coming from Synchron Pianos, loaded as an FX in a Reaper Track. It's quite easy, although the ASIO part is kind of tricky. I recommend you searching for specific ASIO drivers for your audio interface, or at least downloading several of them trying to find the minimum latency
