  • Sibelius Pizzicato and other triggers not happening

    Greetings!
I'm working on a new composition after finally updating things to the new iLok system. My current project is for a small chamber ensemble with full strings and a few added woodwinds. I've selected the sample presets Sibelius/Chamber Strings I + 2 Extended, and Sibelius is finding it in playback. But performance texts such as "Pizz." are being ignored.

I have the Sibelius House Style loaded. Previous compositions with instrumental configs which predate the iLok upgrade work as expected.

Where should I look? Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Jeffrey!

It can have different reasons why articulation changes don't work as expected. Did you go through the Troubleshooting section of the "Sibelius Integration" tutorial yet? All possible reasons that come to my mind are listed there.

If you can't find a solution there, please send the following screenshots to support@vsl.co.at.

    - Sibelius "Add or Remove Instruments" menu

    - Sibelius mixer

    - Sibelius Playback Devices menu

    - Sibelius Manual Sound Sets page of all loaded devices

    - Vienna Ensemble showing one of the instruments that doesn't work correctly

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Andi:
It's been a while since I wandered through the troubleshooting guide, forgotten most of it, went through it again. I did cure some lousy playback in the Soprano Sax by splitting it off to its own VE instance. But I'll be danged if everything I've tried has failed to produce a single pizzicato! I've tried several instruments, and made sure the Sibelius selected instrument and VIP instrument matched, each time.  I'll be sending the requested screen shots in a bit.
But a related question. New to this version of VE and VIP, when I first loaded the instruments, they all showed a red outline around the "VI Pro" textbox. I'm assuming this is meaningful, but it's new to me. If you have a document which includes reference to this, I'm all ears.
           Thanks for your patience.

  • Hello Jeffrey!

If patches are shown in red in the Vienna Instruments (Pro) player, this means that the library content or the license cannot be found. Please check the following things.

    - Is your license key attached or your iLok cloud session active?

    - Did you load the VI preset of a collection that you have indeed registered?

    - Is the library content installed? You can check that or install it with your Vienna Assistant.

    - Is the folder where the content is installed listed in the Directory Manager?

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks. Yeah, I kinda figured that out. I have questions about upgrades, but will send that via email.
