  • missing synchron player in VEP 6.5.x

I use Vienna Ensemble Pro 6.5.x (latest) on a Windows 7 machine.

After installing an update of the latest Synchronplayer (using the vienna Assistant) my VE 64 bit server cannot load the plugin anymore. The actual plugin file is in the right place but after a rescan still nothing.

If I install an old elicencer version of the synchronplayer it works again but I cannot use my Ilok library with that version.

Is there a compatibility issue between VEP 6.x and the recent Ilok based synchron player?

  • Hi Elbee,

I'm afraid Win 7 is not supported anymore (by anyone, actually), and we're not testing it anymore.

You could give it a try with a demo license of VE Pro 7...

Hi Paul, thank you for your response.

    I did some testing now:

I placed my Ilok key in my Windows 10 machine which runs Cubase 12 and also an instance of Vienna Ensemble 6.5.18957 64 bit server. I installed the latest Synchron PLayer for Ilok with the Vienna Assistant.  (I double checked the VST path).

The result is that VE 6.5 64 bit server could not find Synchron Player as a plugin after a rescan. Cubase did find it and runs it fine. On Windows 10.

So I guess it has nothing to do with Windows 7 but maybe with the fact that VE 6.5 is not Ilok based? Upgrading to VE7 for using Ilok content is the only solution then?😔

  • Hi Elbee,

    You have 2 options:

    1) Upgrade to VE Pro 7 and work with the latest iLok software versions

    2) Stay with VE Pro 6.5 and stick to eLicenser for now.

I'd opt for the 1). You can also wait for upcoming special offers.... Black Friday is not too far away...

    Best,
    Paul
