I haven't yet ungraded from my trashcan mac but looking at doing so soon.

For pure audio work (to picture but no video rendering) it there any point in going for the M1 Ultra with the extra proc power (mostly GPU) or is the M1 Max sufficient?

Full orchestral and hybrids work with 90% of VSTs being Vienna and running on VEPro 7. Cubase host.

I've been watching the thread on the compatibility too which is a bit concerning - and a big feature of my setup is I use ViPro a lot - it being so much more usable than Synchron player - and I haven't yet found out if ViPro (within VEPro 7) will work on one of these new units..

Well actually don't upgrade because All vsl stuffs are not Apple silicon Native yet!

And we don't actually have any ETA...

VSL is still in the Stone Age as far as Apple goes - but the Ultra affords you more RAM - which is critical for VI's.  Speed doesn't matter as much as ram for VI's.  I have an ultra w 128 gigs of ram and 2TB HD.  Everything except the iLok VEP works extremely well on it.  I'm still using the eLicenser version.

Thanks very much for your reply.  That's really interesting glasswing.

Do you run MIRPro on it ?   And do you use ViPro on it as well? (And synchron player of course)..

And are you using this thing they call Rosetta 2?

No, I only use VEP.
