  • MIR3D - Why can I not see this?

    Hi there,

So I have a new PC running WIn10 and Cubase 12.

I successfully navigated all of the requirements concerning iLok and went through Vienna Assistant to re-download and re-install my libraries.

Notably, I have recently purchased VEP7 and MIR3D(24) with associated room packs for this new computer.

VEP and VI software was installed on the system drive (c). Instruments and MIR3D on a dedicated SSD drive used solely for VSL. All of this done through Vienna Assistant which concurs that all of this has been installed.

I can now successfully raise an instance of VEP in Cubase 12, load an instrument into VI player and I get sound.

However - if I go to the mixer and insert MIR Pro in the FX slot (should it say MIR3D?) - this will turn red, there is no sound and MIR does not appear.

I cannot find any way of raising MIR, I trying to help myself out however, all of the information I see assumes that MIR is up in front of you, I have not got that far.

Should it say MIR3D? I am confused (I did install the legacy MIR and room packs - I assumed for previous projects this would be needed.)

Should I have installed MIR and all of its components in the C drive instead of the dedicated VSL drive? both are SSD - although Vienna Assistant says they have been installed.

    What am I missing?

Any comprehensive help would be REALLY appreciated as I am really stuck at this point.

    Kind Regards,

    Lee

  • If I understand you correctly you installed legacy MIR Pro which relies on eLicenser, but you obtained an iLok-based license for MIR Pro 3D. This won't work, simply because legacy MIR Pro can't find a valid license.

MIR Pro and MIR Pro 3D are _not_ the same application, and they can't co-exist on the same system. The newer MIR Pro 3D will happily load and play projects that where created with the older version, though.

EDIT: MIR Pro 3D needs its dedicated new RoomPacks, not the legacy ones!

... if this doesn't help to solve the problem, please get in contact with support@vsl.co.at ASAP! :-)

    All the best,

  • Hi Dietz, Thanks for the prompt reply - appreciated. Before I saw this reply, I reinstalled MIR3D again and this time for some reason, it worked! I didn't realize the conflict with the previous MIR - so am I safe to assume I can go back into Vienna Assistant and uninstall Vienna MIR Pro Roompacks (legacy)? Will this take them off the disk so as to conserve disk space? And one last question (promise!) what about MIR X mode? This is so useful as a starting point - is this possible with MIR3D? I am sure your base setups will prove an inspiration! Kind Regards, Lee

  • All settings that were available in MIRx and MIR Pro's "MIRx Mode" are now part of MIR 3D's new Preset Management. As "Vienna Standards" they form the basis of MIR 3D's Factory Presets.

Be warned, though, that the Natural Volume settings for Vienna Instruments are faulty at the moment and should be used with caution. A fix is on its way. :-)

    Kind regards,
