  • Second Ethernet Card, VEPRO keeps losing connection

    Hi,

I'm running the latest vepro with elicenser on two computers, v7.0.1120-Nov 23 2021. I have the master computer, and two slaves. Each computer has two ethernet ports/cards. I wanted to be able to separate any internet traffic I may be using on any of the computers from VEPRO's information being sent/received. My internet ethernet addresses are typical 192.169.1.xXx and my VEPRO ethernet addresses are 10.0.0.xXx.

At first, this setup acted weird and VEPRO had trouble seeing 10.0.0.xXx address. In Cubase, when I manually entered the addresses and instances name, they connected and reconnect just fine. The problem I'm having is, randomly, VEPRO will disconnect, and this only happens when using the secondary ports. What's strange, is I'm not sure if it's Cubase, the VEPRO plugin, or the VEPRO server which is causing the disconnect.

To explain further, the Cubase VEPRO plugin shows that the instances have all been disconnected. However, on each server computer in VEPRO, it still shows that all the instances are connected. The "plug-connector" icon is filled in black indicating it shows a connection.

My temporary fix is just to log on to each server,  File > Disconnect all, then go back to Cubase and right-click on the VEPRO plugin and "reconnect-all". That works with the reality that it will disconnect some random point down the line.

It could be one of the secondary PCIe expansion cards. I've tried updating all the current/latest drivers for each of them. (To be clear, one server motherboard & Master computer came with two ethernet ports already, so for one serve other, I bought additional PCIe cards). I'm assuming since both servers show VEPRO still connected that the culprit may be the secondary ethernet PCIe card on the Master/Cubase rig. However, I've tried now two different ethernet cards already and the same thing happens. So now, I'm reaching out for help.

I was hoping if anyone had some insight. If possible, someone has a better understanding of the steps to help me network debug and figure out what is causing the disconnect to happen in the first place.

    Cheers,

    DMDComposer
