I just recently finished composing my first symphony, "Sonokoda", which in four movements tells the major plot points of a story and world I am currently developing.

I've now animated videos for it which showcase the piece with views of what the instruments are doing - sort of like a performance of the midi notation.

All movements have been uploaded to the VSL YouTube channel, which I am very grateful for. The additional fifth, more 'traditional' screencast video will follow soon!

    First movement:

    Second Movement:

    Third Movement:

    Fourth Movement:

Final Video: A deep analysis of Sonokoda!

Insights into composition, arrangement and workflow for such a monster project.

    Here is the third movement!

  • Ah funny enough, I ran across these videos on YouTube the other day when I was searching for some vsl stuff. I'll give it a listen while I'm working tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing it!

  • Hi there,

I started listening, and my reaction on hearing the first brass chord was ....whoaaaa.

Love the way you open the symphony.

The piece is full of rich orchestral colors, and the structure and form seem solid. Congrats on this fantastic work.

Cant wait to listen to the whole thing!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I also took a sneak peak at the third mvmt.

Wow, this is like a modern version of Rozsa.

You have great mastery of the craft...certainly in the upper echelon of composers here.
