  • Using Vienna Assistant

    Hello VSL,

I'm currently in the process of setting up a new machine and converting to iLok, etc.

At present, when I launch Vienna Assistant from Settings in Windows 10 (there's no desktop icon?) I get a User Account Control message asking 'Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device'. I'm used to seeing this when installing new software, but I am already using the VA (have successfully downloaded one instrument and now have the V Hard Drive to download from).

I'm not clear whether an instrument which is downloaded online or downloaded from the V Hard Drive is also therefore installed - is installation a separate process?

Through the VA I was able to download VIPro 'compatability' version but the other VIPro would not download.

Sorry if these questions seem obvious.

  • Some applications trigger the User Account Control message every time they start. Not to worry.

I don't know about the hard drive (has to be the iLok version), but if you download instruments with the VA, they are installed after download. The VA will keep you informed as to the status of both processes..

  • It is not possible to use the Assistant without confirming this message. Due to technical limitations, this was the only way to get everything working reliably.
