  • iLok issue: "Could not initialize eLicenser" message when I open VSL programs

Any time I try to load a project or open the stand-alone VSL programs, I immediately get a window with a message: "Could not initialize eLicenser. Please ensure that your eLicenser key is connected, then restart the plugin or reload your project."

The MyVSL page show that I have linked my iLok account. All my instruments (except for the Vienna Instruments Pro 2 License) have green dots next to them. I have the latest version of iLok License Manager installed, and I have all my VSL licenses activated on the iLok USB dongle. I have the 2nd generation iLok dongle. I have other non-VSL programs activated on the iLok dongle, so the dongle seems to be working fine.

When I migrated the licenses to iLok, was when all of my VSL instruments stopped working. What steps should I take so I can use my VSL instruments again?

    Hi,

In a nutshell: You need to download EVERYTHING you see under NOT INSTALLED in your Vienna Assistant, also the sample content for iLok.

This is how to make the switch to iLok, step by step.

Here is more information for you regarding license management with iLok.

    Best,
    Paul

Thanks! I didn't have Vienna Assistant installed. I was using the Directory Scanner to add folders, but I guess the Directory Scanner doesn't work anymore.
