  • Logic and MIR in standalone

    Hello

    I was looking for a tutorial on how to use MIR in Logic with VI and SYN instruments

    As an owner of MIR I had a look at MIR 3D, I did not find the venues I had in MIR !

    Thanks in advance for your help

    Musical regards.

    Cyril

  • Hello Cyril,

    it might be that I misunderstood your inquiry, but all Venues that were available for legacy MIR Pro are also available for MIR 3D, too (in refined versions). Which ones did you miss?

    Kind regards,

  • Oh, wait a second - you were talking about MIRx? I thought you were asking for MIR 3D, sorry.

    To make it perfectly clear: (legacy) MIR Pro, MIRx and MIR 3D are each based on their own impulse response data. These data sets are _not_ interchangeable. In other words: download and install MIRx Venues for MIRx, download and install legacy MIR RoomPacks for Vienna MIR Pro, download and install 3D-RoomPacks for MIR 3D.

    Hope this helps,

    Hello Dietz

    Thanks for your explanation.

    All those version of MIR are very confusing, it's a pity that not all the venues are compatible. It could be the next "TODO" things

    There is no MIRx software extension for Synchron Instruments, only for Vienna Instruments and Vienna Instruments Pro.

    The actual Synchron Instruments aren't an ideal source for MIR Pro or MIR 3D either, as there is lots of original room from Synchron Stage Vienna that comes with the samples already. There are close mics which are quite dry, but keep in mind that they were meant as support for the main mics, not as a complete "image" of the recorded instrument (... a fundamental difference to Vienna Instruments).

    The big exception are the so-called "Synchron-ized Instruments" which rely on the same (although partially re-mastered and/or re-mapped) samples as Vienna Instruments, while using Synchron Player as platform. In these cases you can select the "Unprocessed/dry" Mixer Preset which makes these instrument a great source for MIR Pro / MIR 3D.

    Here you find the MIR/MIRx-related video tutorials:

    MIR 3D videos are here:

    -> https://www.vsl.co.at/en/Vienna_Software_Package/MIR_Pro_3D#!3D_Setup

    ... but don't forget the actual manuals, please:

    -> https://www.vsl.info/en/manuals/vienna-instruments-mirx/introduction

    Of course, the manual for legacy MIR Pro is still available, too:

    Hope that helps,
