Does the new ilok version of VEP still work in Windows 7?

Hi

I'm currently running the e-licenser version of VEP on a slave machine which still uses Windows 7 and it works perfectly. However, I'm about to upgrade to the ilok version of VEP. Will the ilok versions of VEP work on Windows 7? Is anyone successfully doing this?

I've been putting off moving from e-licenser to ilok and fear I'll have to upgrade my slave from Windows 7 to Windows 10/11 as well. 😔

Hi Brett!

VE Pro 7 (iLOK) as well as our Vienna Assistant and all our software, does not support Windows 7. You will have to upgrade to Windows 10/11.

I'm aware you don't technically support W7 but I'm wondering if users are still successfully using the newer iLok versions of VEP, the VI player and Synchron Player on W7?

I also have a second related question:

If I test the iLok version of VEP on W7 and it doesn't work reliably, can I revert back to the e-Licenser versions of VEP? Or once you activate the iLok licenses can you no longer use the e-Licenser versions?

 

(Background: I've been told by my DAW builder that my Slave (Xeon, X79) is unlikely to play nicely at lower latencies under W10, so updating this machine may not be an option for me...)

Hi Brett,

The iLOK licenses are separated from your eLicenser licenses - so going back to eLicenser would be possible by reinstalling the legacy sample content and software.

Even Windows 8 (also retired by Microsoft) does not play nicely for the eLicenser-to-iLOK conversion of your existing project data. So, unfortunately, no. Also, our software in the Vienan Assistant can no longer be installed on Windows 7/8. Sorry for not having better news for you in this regard.
