Hi

when i open VEP7 it want to have it default to the instrument gui view, not the channel, for all instances.

Is this possible?

Currently only the active instance on startup will show the instrument gui, switching to another instance will show show the mixer view, and i always have to click on the articulation to show the insturment gui.

Is there a preference to set te default behaviour?

Aso, if i click F3 to open instrument view, there is no instrument displayed, i have to go back to mix view and click on the instrument name with the mouse in order to access the instrument view

Is this a bug? Can anyone confirm?

Since I changed to iLok VEP7, when I load a template I have saved in both VEP7 and Studio One 5, I only get the mixer view and have to click on the name of the player (both Synchron player and Opus player) in each instance to get the instrument view ahowing the player. But if I load templates that I made before switching to iLok, then I get the instrument view for each instance without having to click anything. If I go back to e-licenser VEP, I can't use VST 3 but I can save each instance so that when I open it later it will show me the instance the way I saved it. In my case, I like to save it with instrument view showing and automation not showing. I posted about this a few months ago and Paul replied that they had to change the way VEP saved to improve performance. I miss the old way.

Please toggle to light mode instead of dark mode to see my above post. Not sure what I did. Sorry.

Administrator Edit: I have removed the black color from your text so that it can be read in both dark & light mode. If you do not format your text with a specific color, it will display as black/white.

Thanks for confirming, i would rather have a preference to keep the gui visible than being forced to click on an instrument channel every single time.

Me too. This was an issue a few years ago when an update stopped VEP users from saving with the automation window closed. When they did, the automation window would be open when they later returned to a saved instance. They simply fixed that for the next update. At that point VEP would reopen an instance the way it was saved, You could choose mixer or instrument view upon reopening. I am not sure exactly why this is no longer possible since the introduction of VEP VST 3 version but I accept that it could have something to do with performance. All I can say is that the pre-VST 3 VEP performed very well. Maybe the coolest software there was. I can't really complain about the new VEP because it still does a fantastic job of allowing me to use two computers.

"Paul replied that they had to change the way VEP saved to improve performance."

I was under the assumption that the failure of the Instrument pane to appear was a known bug, and that VSL was fixing it. Did VSL say that it's going to stay this way?

It's been a kludge for several months, and it's particularly unfortunate when building templates, needing to move between different instances. It exacerbates the already slow GUI response -- another matter I had hoped they were fixing.

Hi! A quick update:

We can reproduce the issue on some of our machines, but not all of them. We will investigate!

I am using the same machines that I used the with pre-VST 3 VEP and there was not the same problem then.

Could you tell us which machines could reproduce the issue and which ones couldn't? Thanks.

Thanks Andreas. Just knowing that it's on the radar is encouraging.
