  • Dealbreaker: No disk streaming?

I most certainly do not want to be a voice of negativity here and I always commend Herb and company for the best sample product on the market.

However, looking over the tutorials, it seems that the new VIs do not include disk streaming. for a library of this size to not have this included seems to be a large oversite. I hope there are plans in the the near future to include this feature if it is not already implemented.

I have quite a large amount of computers but my templates are very very large. They have to be for my work. What about all the folks who are using VSL on systems of only 1 or 2 computers. The loading and purging of samples is a very awkward way to work and will cramp workflow.

I am the owner of the 1st edition, pro edition, and various horizon libraries. i am a loyal customer who is quite excited by the possibilites of the new VIs. Unfortunately, until they include disk-streaming I will be unable to make use of this new upgrade.

Is this post all for naught? Is there streaming implemented and I'm missing it? If so my sincere apologies and i will lining up to buy. If not, I will be waiting....

    Best,
    Matt Mariano

Hey Matt - hope all is well in 'tinsel town' [:D]

Like you, I have large templates that I work with. Forgive me for asking but why is NO disk streaming limiting to us (as long as we can have loaded up the similar or more amount of patches - across multiple instances / PC's. Am I missing something key?? Wouldn't be the first time [:O]ops:

  • The answer is yes.
Read the product info in 'about the user interface'.

    Regards,

    Alex.

  • The Vienna Instruments are streaming.
It would be impossible to load 25000 stereo samples on a windows PC with 2 gig Ram without streaming. That's more than the double amount of samples I could load into Gigastudio (on the same PC)

  • Exellent. my apologies for missing that spec. i'm very very pleased to see the streaming included. Many thanks for all the quick replies!!!
