Hi all,

The 3 is there because I sent two e-mails to VSL support for help but got no reply, even after several days.

Frustrated is there because I just got the Complete Orchestra Pro Edition for EXS and it has been indeed a frustrating experience getting this installed. After more than a week I am still confronted with 2 problems, maybe someone here will be willing to help me.

Folder by folder I use the logic project manager to link instruments to samples. The manual says you do not have to stay at your computer when this process is going on. My experience is quite different. It is enormously time consuming and you have to stay at your computer to solve the problems.

1. For each and every folder about every minute or so I have to choose between various samples, error message "multiple matches have been found for file ...". The names of the files are completely different but one will usually be a performance file and the other not? Finally, because this was just ridiculous (probably would have taken a whole week) I decided to push the button "Use best" the first time the question popped up and then it didn't come again until the next folder. Is that OK?

2. For harp I got about 1300 samples which were not found, error message "no match found". Why is that and what should I do?

Thanks for any help. Songman.

Hi Songman,

It sounds like you might've installed some things twice. Rather than run the Project Manager, you might want to go into the EXS itself, into OPTIONS, and there's a setting there for "search local drives only" for samples - turn that off so it can see samples you have on external (or networked) hard drives.

If that fails, you may want to delete the instruments and sounds you've already installed and do a clean install again, making sure you only expand each library once.

With the Project Manager, I think you can select "Expanded Scan" which scans every single folder on all present hard drives. But give that a shot and see if it works.

VSL is really an amazing product, but it takes a little digging into it to get the most out of it. Once it's up and running I bet you'll fall in love with it.

Hi Kerry,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately I do not think I installed things twice because the files actually have totally different names. It looks like a number of files in the performance collection simply are bit-for-bit copies of the same files in the normal collections. Is that possible?

Best regards, Songman.

Ohhhh -- if you already had some libraries installed, and then installed the complete Pro edition, then yes - you may have duplicated some sample sets. I had that same problem as well, and someone recommended Redmatica's EXS Manager to solve the problem. Check it out.

Hi Kerry,

No, I installed the Pro Edition fresh.

I just got an extensive reply from Marnix Veenenbos (should have been a bit more patient I guess) who explained things to me and it seems that indeed the info in the manual is not correct and the logic projectmanager has this problem. As you, he also suggested getting Redmaticas EXS manager instead which I will now get.

Thanks again for your help and suggestion!

Cheers, Songman.

Hi all,

I tried to buy EXS manager from redmatica. Another frustrating experience. I have spent the best part of the day figuring out why redmatica and share-it (the company that collects internet payment for them) refuses my creditcard. I have checked with my bank, with pc banking and with the creditcard company. Result: my card and credit are perfectly in order, yet I cannot pay with my card, it gets refused by share-it. I have bought dozens of items for years with that same card on many internet sites, no problem. Does anyone else here have the same experience with these companies: redmatica and share-it?

Best regards, Songman.

No, I'm afraid I didn't have any problem at all with either company. I would suggest that the problem could be with Share-It, not Redmatica (not that it helps you at all).

Hope you soon get it sorted out...

Hi Songman,

Have you tried to contact Andrea Gozzi from Redmatica at about this new problem? He might know a solution...

Best, Marnix

Hi Marnix, Yes I did, but he (she?) was unable to help. Neither could share-it help. I finally used another creditcard which did work.

Cheers, Bob.

hi there,

I have had the same problem, some clone-samples, some samples not found, although I had everything installed, for that I´m sure. Now I do a complete re-install Sad

Would like to please you to read my topic in the "exs24"... perhaps you have some hints...? It´s about installing and upgrading from 1st Edition to Pro...

thank you,
