Redmatica's site currently has a link to NAMM '06, though it won't open. I'm wondering if Keymap will be announced there.

At Redmatica, what was once promised at "First Half of '05" and then became "Last Half of '05" is now "available soon." I stopped checking in eventually, like a mouse that doesn't get a treat after pressing the bar when the light goes on (extinguished behavior). But now, with a little hope, my behavior has returned (spontanteous recovery).

Thanks,
we are really getting close to release, and anyone going at NAMM is welcome to come visit the booth (6328 Hall A)

Andrea,

Keymap looks very impressive !!

I like the surround functionality - is there any way to cheat EXS24 into actually playing as a surround sampler? If not, please visit the Apple booth at NAMM, twist their noses until they weep, and let them know that they had better wake up and introduce this in Logic 7.3

Looking forward to Keymap
Regards - Colin

In Keymap you can actually use surround sample files (>2 channels).
When exporting to Exs24, it will automaticallly split those in stereo or mono files and will use the Exs24 multiple out feature to send those files to the surround outs...

I hadn't checked the Redmatica site for a while......I know Andreas will release Keymap when he's good & ready, so no sweat....

....but the detailled features of Keymap are really fantastic!! In particular, the Realtime Harmonic resynthesis looks groundbreaking.

Keymap will vastly extend the usefulness of exs24, especially for those of us who like to "tweak". But for everybody, this could also be a boon to those not ready or able to make the step from exs24 VSL to Viennea Instruments.

Yes. The "Poor Man's VI." I think a greater overlaying of MIDI controlled samples will become feasible wiith Keymap, with a view towards single-patch expressivity. Not that it's impossible now, but EXS' editor is user-hostile. I paid my dues, built my template, and bid adieu to patch building.

I'm hoping Keymap will facilitate the layering of sounds relative to modwheels, velocities, round robins, and the like, and that its interface shows us what is playing what -- which is VI's strong suit.

But I've been actively waiting for Keymap for one year now. That a lot of site clicks. I feel like the mouse who is unlearning the behavior of pushing the lever, because the food just won't come down the chute.

Squeak! [start pushing lever again]

Hey, Andrea, the movie looks great.... But "Show Movie Properties" in QT shows that there's no audio track.

Just watching it gives an opening glimpse at the kind of power and facility which will be open to us. And note, all who complained of the upgrade policies for VI -- I think the day is coming when you'll be even happier to own First or Pro Edition, as RAM manipulation is still available to you.

Here's a complicated task. I've wondered if perf-legato instruments could be thinned out, and how the individual zones might be transposed. I'd think that would be a mapping nightmare. But if such patches could be thinned out a bit, that too would be a step towards RAM savings.

Forgive the double post. But I've just watched the movie a few times, pausing, following without the sound, getting my first inkling of the power Keymap represents for creating responsive, layered EXS instruments.

It's such an over-arching leap from the EXS editor. When I think of all the times I hand-adjusted every zone in that boxy moonscape of a display. All that scrolling.

As we approach the first year anniversary of this thread, let us bow our head in silence... Except for you, Mr. Gozzi. You can speak at any time. Smile

Ding ding ding! Jackpot! SFX: Sirens WAIL. Whoop whoop! The indefatigable faith of Mighty Rino, Plowman, and a whole host of EXS users is now gloriously vindicated!

KEYMAP is available! See www.redmatica.com. It's currently 265.84 USD (195 EUR).

After an hour and a half on the program, I'm just a bit numb as to what you can do. And totally lost, as is standard operating procedure.

Andrea is remarkable. This is clearly a fore-thought program that has had numerous iterations before it was released.

One note to the VSL EXS community. You'll never again complain about the price of upgrading to VI. Your cache of "old" VSL EXS instruments just got a lot more valuable. You're looking at a facility with First and Pro Edition samples that you've never had before.
