  • Appassionata Strings - pricing question

    To the VSL team:
I have the Appassionata Violins, which I received as a bonus from VSL sometime ago.

When I log into the VSL store and look at Appassionata Strings, there is no discount - I am charged the full price. I don't mean to be ungrateful for my free gift of the Violins, but shouldn't I get a discount for these? The VSL policy is that you never pay for samples you already have. Though I didn't pay for the Violins, I own them nevertheless.

If I buy the full Extended Appassionata Strings at the full price, it effectively means that I am "losing" (= paying for) my free gift of the Appasionata Violins.

Could Herb or someone from the team please comment?

    Thanks and regards - Colin

  • Hi Musos... I was wondering just the same thing!
...maybe we'll get a brand new updated Appassionata Violins...? [8-)]

  • Whilst never wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, I think that it is bit hopeful to expect an discount on this Collection, when any duplicate samples were never paid for in the first place! However, I don't mind being proved wrong on this. [:D]

  • just to mention ... you do not own them, you have received a license (for appass violins) ... the appass violins (bonus files) are an instrument, not a collection.
after getting the wording clear i can at least put your minds at rest ... i'm sure herb will announce the rule soon, and it's not too bad [;)]

  • Thanks cm.

Actually my only real "complaint" about the App Violins is the lack of different note lengths in the "short" category. Is this improved with the "proper" version? I find that the staccato is too long most of the time, and playing it shorter just makes it sound truncated.

  • We'll make an official announcement later, but here is a short info how the Appassionata upgrade will work:

We'll offer a 6 to 8 weeks introduction period where you will get the extended content for free if you have registered
Pro Edition Strings or Pro Edition Performance Set plus
Vienna Instruments Orchestral strings I + II (standard + extended).

If you have these products registered you'll get automatically a full code for the Appassionatas when you are registering the Standard Appassionatas collection.

So you only have to order the Standard version and double checking if all your products are registered before you register the Appassionatas.

    best
    Herb

Just to mention... ([:D] cm, I'm kidding) DG gave a clear translation of my hope: "maybe we'll get a brand new updated Appassionata Violins" (that line was the most important, to me, in my post :wink[:)]...

Thanks Herb for the good news!

  • Cool, THanks Herb

  • Very fair Herb.

Demos? Can you provide only these new samples as a demo. Kevin's first VI quick and dirty demos what made me plop down $7K for the VI update. We have some very talented programmers here on the board but I would 'also' love to hear this set all by itself - little processing.

  • Very generous. I wasn't going to buy App Strings at the moment, but now....... [:O]

  • Hi Herb,

What I understand from your post is that during the 6 - 8 week intro period [does this period start from when the product is ready to ship?], and if you have the full Vienna Instrument string package - 1 and 2 - the standard AND the extended version - and if you buy the appassionata VI strings Standard version, you get the extended version free. Am I right or wrong here?

thanks for any info with this.

    regards,

    Steve M.

  • Thankyou Herb & cm for the info.
I do have the required products - and they are all registered (just checked on the website).

So...please let us know when this 6-8 period starts....

Of course, THANKS for your generosity and support for faithful old customers!
    [:D]

Same here. Damn I hate VSL sometimes [[;)]]

  • Hi Herb,

Sorry - I do apologise - in re-reading your post, I realized that you had to have the strings pro-edition or pro-edition performance set also to qualify.

    best regards,

    Steve [:D]

  • Thx a lot Herb - a really nice gesture to us old-timers.

Well I'm not sure....if you haven't bought the VI editions of Orchestral Strings, even though you bought Performance & Pro Strings, it seems there will be no discount at all. In my case have FE complete and ProPerformance set, and I only bought the Chamber Strings as VI so far. So I don't think my older Strings registrations will be of any benefit. It would of course be nice if there could be some sort of introductory offer which helps a wider group of us old "VIP" users.

    It's a complex business, this "being fair" , ain't it? [[;)]]

i'd like to point you to the initial offer, which clearly refers to pro edition users upgrading to Vienna Instruments Strings

I was looking for an additional attractive premium bonus for our Pro Edition users who plan to upgrade to Vienna Instruments ...

now the offer has been expanded from appass violins to appass strings extended as bonus ...

  • Thanks Christian- it *is* hard to follow all the permutations - it would be simplest if we could see in the discount calculator just what pricing is available, according to what we have previously registered, and with the additional information that mentions special (i.e introductory) offers, etc.

I see the Discount Calculator is offline, so does that mean it's being updated for this purpose, please?

    Thank you

    Nigel

  • the vienna instruments calculater is beeing updated because we noticed a few inconsistencies on discounts with some mixed first-/pro-edition/horizon combinations and registered vienna instruments have not been displayed.

i can't promise to show such special offers and i'm not sure now if it was (is) not time-limited ...

Hey - don't put the guilt on me for the $7K you dropped! [:D]
