1.Online mixing 3/3/2014 4:40:28 PM
Hello Maestro2be,

I have a question about your post: what do you mean with "Work with Dietz"? I don't see any services of this kind on the site.

Thank you,

Agostino

Thanks for your advice. I am very interested in Mr Kaufmann's templates, but the problem is that I have Sonar and not Cubase. Anyway I'll think about your other suggestions.
3.Online mixing 3/1/2014 8:05:33 AM
Hello,

I compose orchestral pieces with VSL and sometimes other virtual instruments. I don't really have time also to try to achieve good mixes (from a technical point of view), for example I have never played with equalizers in order to obtain a better instruments separation.

Does somebody recommend a good site where one can send a piece's audio tracks, and pay for having a good mix back? I found some in the internet, but they all talk about pop, rock, folk music, and never about orchestral mockups.

Thanks a lot in advance for any reply,

Agostino
4.First post here - Short trailer music 12/7/2011 4:44:40 PM
Hi Franck, I think this is really impressive, and it is almost unbelievable to see what you can do today with open-source software like Blender.
Regarding the music, it is great too, is it surround stereo, or binaural, or something like this? Because the sound is very warm and "big", or maybe you used a lot of hardware, didn't you?

Thanks a lot for this great share!

Ok thank you, now your opinion is clearer :)
6.VSL vs Hollywoods Strings #2 8/6/2011 8:37:18 PM
Maybe I didn't understand exactly that sentence, and I was mistaking being ironic. Please consider that messages that are too subliminal can be misunderstood by many people...
7.VSL vs Hollywoods Strings #2 8/6/2011 7:38:59 PM
To Errikos:
"If you can't notate/MIDI it yourself, it's NOT your music!"

GREAT SENTENCE!!! IS IT YOURS????
8.MIR (SE) 4/21/2011 9:14:15 AM
Hi Bogdan, No problem at all, i didn't take your message as inappropriate. My last reply was because I have seen many threads in this and other forums, where the subject was "how to achieve that particular sound".

I have purchased Mir just about one month ago, and haven't yet tried the instruments configuration that you are trying to obtain. But in this site you can download some "positioning templates" that maybe can help you. Otherwise just position the instruments according to their traditional location in the stage, i.e. strings quartet etc.".

I hope this helped a little, bye have a nice day!

Hi Bogdan, If you are only one click away from buying the product, the word "buying" says that I personally have said enough (too much a responsability)...there are trial versions of many products, and it's also a matter of taste...

In general, the great thing of these times is that you can turn your musical ideas into sounds in just a few minutes (ok, I read this in another thread)...but if you want to achieve the perfect mix, I am not a professional and can't give you any advice.

Ciao :)
10.MIR (SE) 4/20/2011 12:06:14 PM
Hello,
I too have MIR SE and I think it's quite a great product. I have a little question about it: is there any user here that has the roompack 2(I mean the one with the Teldex ir)? Since this roompack isn't exactly free, I would like to know if it is really necessary if someone wants to achieve a "filmscore" sound, i.e. less "concert".

Thank you in advance, ciao :)
11.New IBM computer for VSL 2/11/2011 1:39:35 PM
I have a black computer too: it's a Sinclair Spectrum. But I must admit I have some performance problems with Vsl...
12.dry/wet ratios in MIR 1/21/2011 3:34:06 PM
Thanks Dietz, I especially liked your "In other words" part, the first paragraph was kind of Chinese to me :)
13.dry/wet ratios in MIR 1/20/2011 1:48:43 PM
Dietz said "we have decided to cut any direct signals from the IRs, because it can be replaced perfectly (and without any processing artifacts) by the dry VI signal".
Does this by any chance mean that in my VST host (in my case Sonar) I still have to mind about panning? Or is this a thing to forget when working with Mir?

Thanks a lot in advance for any answer.
14.Shame on Dimension Brass. 1/20/2011 1:31:48 PM
David said "when we have already spent 2000 euros for the brass sounds"?????????

I guess it means that you have purchased the Cube....then I totally agree with you, your percentage is growing a little...
15.Positioning templates 12/15/2010 10:41:03 AM

Hello, In MIR SE positioning templates I read "1st violins, 2nd violins...".
I have all the download instruments of the special edition, but in the "Orchestral strings" folder I only see "String voilins", not any 2nd violins. Is this a part of another library? If this is the case, would it be possible to post a template only for SE instruments?

Many thanks in advance!
16.Mir SE 11/22/2010 4:54:10 PM
Hello,
Just a little question, I couldn't find this information in this site: the new versions of MIR include 3rd Party VSTi hosting, does MIR SE have this functionality too?

Thanks in advance

17.MIR as VST or Ethernet! 10/5/2010 6:53:39 PM
I only have one more question about this:
Mir was initially conceived for living alone in its own machine. Have you guys from VSL tested the other configuration, i.e. a melting-pot with Mir and a sequencer in the same machine?

Thank you again :)

Thank you Dietz,
I see that you understood well that I indeed prefer eating to cooking ;)

Ciao, have a nice day!
19.MIR as VST or Ethernet! 10/3/2010 5:02:36 PM
Hi all,
Sorry for my very poor technical skills, but will this mean that the integration of MIR PRO and the sequencer in only one machine will be easier? I am asking this because I don't have the MIR yet, and the manual talks about quite complicated things in the chapter "Typical setup 2 - MIR side by side with a sequencer on the same machine".

Thank you for an answer, ciao

Thank you Dietz and you all for your very useful replies!
Have a beautiful weekend

21.MIR users feedback 10/1/2010 4:12:27 PM
Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your reply. I watched some of your videos, and liked the music and the realism of the sounds very much, I also added you as friend on Youtube.
Just one more question: can you tell me if the "noise" in the background of the pieces in your videos is part of the Mir reverb, of if it comes from somewhere else?

Thank you again, and have a great weekend!

Agostino
22.MIR users feedback 9/21/2010 7:49:56 AM
Hello,

I would like to understand something more about MIR.

The main features of this product are the reverb, that looks awesome, and the unprecedented fact that you can collocate the instruments in a precise position on the "stage".

My question is: is the fact that you can decide the exact position of each instrument a real advantage? Do you see any difference, even slight, for what regards the instruments separation, and the quality of the mixes? In general, in my experience, it is quite difficult to obtain a good instruments separation, especially when using good amounts of reverb.

I would appreciate any feedback from MIR users, thank you in advance!
23.Mir / Sonar 8/22/2010 6:07:35 PM
Hi Dietz,

Thank you for your answer. With "ASIO-hardware" do you mean the audio interface? I have an Edirol UA-25EX, and I didn't find if it is "multi-client" or not, do you think it is?

Best regards,

Agostino
24.Mir / Sonar 8/20/2010 11:07:02 PM

Hello,
I would like to buy the Mir, I already have Sonar 8.5 and I've read of problems of integration between Mir and Cubase.

Does Mir work well with Sonar ? How can I have an idea of the way they are integrated?

Thank you :)
