1.[announcement] Vienna Ensemble Pro v4.0.4780 (Public Beta) 12/28/2009 8:34:57 PM

After updating to this new version I can't open the VEPro 32 bit Server. It has disappeared from the Application folder. The 64 bit server is the only one that will open. I've tried to re-install the update but it still doesn't work.

I'm on a Mac Pro (Nehalem) 8 core.

When you open VE Pro into Logic it's only as a plugin. To open via standalone you have to open VE Pro in the Applications>Vienna Ensemble Pro folder.

In able to route the audio and MIDI, you have to use the IAC Bus for MIDI, and some audio routing program like JackOSX or Soundflower to get it to Logic.

Thanks Nathan, That's a bummer, I was hoping to get rid of Soundflower. And I could never figure out how to set up JackOSX.

3.VE PRO SERVER v.s. IAC + VE PRO with Logic 9 10/13/2009 10:01:05 PM
Can someone explain how to open VE Pro as a Standalone on a Mac Pro along side Logic9. Also, can someone explain how to open VE Pro as a Plugin in Logic on a Mac Pro.---

I've watched all the videos, but I still don't know if I'm opening VE as a Plugin or a Standalone. I would like to have both going at the same time.---

It says that you can click the "preferences" button in Standalone and it will open up. But so far all the instances I set up do not let the "preferences" button open. So I suspect I'm only opening Plugins.---

I'm also using my older G5 2.5 dual as a slave, which seems to be working fine running multiple VE Pro Standalones.---

Thanks for any info,

Al Capps-----Also, how do you make Paragraphs when posting?

Thanks Paul,

As you can tell I'm new to Vienna Ensemble.

Thanks Michael,

It's showing up in the "Directory manager" now. Is there anything I have to put in the VSL Custom Data folder?

Paul (or anyone else),

I just bought VE Pro and opened it up. Opened the server and tried to load an Epic Orchestra preset. I can't seem to find the Epic Orchestra PRESETS to put into the Directory Manager folder. In the EO manual it says you can drag the matrix/presets in to the folder.

How can I do this?

Al
