I got Synchron Harp Player and have some issues and questions that I could not find in it's manual to solve or answer.

1) the pedal red keys only seem to change pedals into sharps. How do you get them to change to flats or natural/unmodified pitch?

2)Within the Dorico Pro 5 environment, the player crashed/disappeared when changing from one pre set to the other manually. This also happened when playing the C9 key on the player keyboard.

Has anyone else experienced these crashes?

In any case, I tried what you mentioned and the portamento of the Cello, still doesn't work.

Just to make sure, I'm using the Syzd Cello Merged Basic velocity, in case my previous reference was unclear or misleading.

I'm continuing this thread because after all these months, I'm still running into problems triggering the basic EM in Dorico Pro 5 for the Syzd Cello 1 part instrument.

I'm trying to trigger the portamento, which I can see exists and I can play it on interface keyboard. The EM shows the right key switches to trigger this ornament. I'm using the icon for the down portamento that's in the techniques under Strings category.

I'm sending you some screen shots to illustrate what I'm seeing.

I know that the VSL EMs are for the basic instrument. That is what I'm choosing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just trying to learn the apps/instruments I have, how to set them up and use them for what I need.

I want to know if anyone is using VE7 and Dorico 5.

I have both and understand what VE7 is. I don't understand quite how to use VE7 in Dorico.

I'm interested because I'm orchestrating a piece with 8 percussionists, each with several different instruments, and don't know if I need to assign a Synchron Player for each of the instruments or if I can set up each percussionist set of instruments in VE7 and then assign it to the player in Dorico.

Hoping this makes sense, I'd appreciate any help.

So you're saying that I need to use the full merged preset and add whatever is left, into the Expression Maps.

If so, is there any guidance for doing this, between the VSL and the Dorico manuals?

I transitioned from the VI Solo Strings to the c this past month.

Testing out the samples in Dorico Pro 4.3, I'm not finding where the glissando samples are and how to trigger them using the current basic expression maps from VSL.

Do these exist in the Synchronized Solo Strings?

Not sure this thread is for what I'm searching for. Just going by the title.

In any case, I have VI SOLO STRINGS I Standard Library, SOLO STRINGS II Full Library & SOLO STRINGS I Extended Library, which worked beautifully in Dorico 3.5 along with the Symphonic Riot Articulation Presets I also got.

Moving forward to this year, once iLok  and Dorico 4.0 came into play, all I had stopped working.

Now I finally will get the updated articulation presets that work with VST3 iLok.

I see in Vienna Assistant that there are two versions of VI Pro sample Player. Is the one that's labeled "Compatibility Version" the one I'll be using from now on?

So I get that by choosing Violin Merged Basic VelXF sus I get all the techniques/features of both basic libraries for this instrument.

Where is it described how to make any preset load automatically as a default, assuming my understanding is correct?

What are these "Custom" boxes I see in Synchron Player? They show up in different columns.

OK. I'll look at the Dorico link you gave me. I know I need to study the program more, and appreciate your guidance.

Regarding the "Con Sordino", I tried a sample project to try out the different techniques and features available in VSL solo strings basic setting, and following what I understood you indicated, I used the "con sord." text to trigger the "con sordino", but nothing happened. I did a video to show you what I'm talking about, but can't figure out how to attach it here, even though there's an "attach files to this post" option.

Anyway, if you are able to tell me how to attach it, if it helps, do so and I'll get the video to you.

By what you say I understand that I'll need to learn how to create music symbols that will trigger other "full VelXF" functions in order to use the rest of what's not included in the basic versions of the instruments.

Also, after watching the videos on VSL in Dorico, I still don't get how the program triggers the different presets. Specifically I'm not clear how a player part for violin can go from the basic "sensa sordino" to the con sordino". Dorico has music symbols that indicate when to switch, but that doesn't work. I have chosen the necessary EM in Dorico preferences. I don't see an EM for the "Con Sordino" strings that I could add to the EM set.

All I've been able to conclude is that I may need some kind of PC command, but so far I don't know how to do that, even though I see PC as an option in the EM structure. Am I off track with this?

Do your manuals specifically address this issue?

I love the libraries; I'm just struggling to learn how to use them so they will do what I need for my music.

Does any of this even make sense?

I just purchased the Synchronized Solo Strings so I can use in Dorico 4.3 what I had before in Dorico 3.5.

I realizing that the VSL expression maps don't seem complete, which is bummer. So I would be interested in full expression maps.

I'm also trying to understand how The VSL libraries work in Dorico; I also purchased the Con Sordino library and even though VSL support told me it's expression maps work in Dorico, I don't understand how to call them up in a project.

Wondering if other Dorico users here might be able to provide some guidance.

Anyway, back to your EM; I'm not very good yet at editing/creating EM's. I'm willing to try and provide what I do for anyone else that may need them.

Hi,

I just got my key for the VSO sounds I purchased. I've installed them as per instructions.

When opening LogicPro X, I can see the VSL plugins. I downloaded a sample that VSL has to demo sounds in Logic.

When playing it, there are no sounds. I've followed the process of trashing the cache and having Logic re-scan the AU, but there's still no sound.

Anyone else has similar issue?
