1.[SOLVED] SSP: Humanize options missing 5/12/2022 6:15:05 PM

Oh, and interesting side note: once the options were displaying, and I selected a particular humanize preset (like "in tune random 07" for example) and save my project, the humanize options were showing immediately after reopening my project.

Even without selecting the right most option in the dimension tree - it was just there as it should.

2.[SOLVED] SSP: Humanize options missing 5/12/2022 6:05:13 PM

Hi Paul.

Agreed. But I guess at least "something" on the right needs to be active. For example, you cant select vln 1 / Legato / Regular vib. / Normal release - without having at least also one attack type selected.

But the humanize option will not be shown unless you select one (even the same one which is already active/highlighted).

So my guess is this is just a tiny GUI bug? To be more clear I attached some screen shots as well.

3.[SOLVED] SSP: Humanize options missing 5/12/2022 4:04:25 AM

I thought I solved the problem. But what really solved the problem was just to click on the last item (right most) of that patch in the dimension tree. Then it shows.

Would be helpful to just show this anyway, once a patch becomes enabled/loaded.

4.Microphones: Mixes and stereo width 5/5/2022 5:26:54 AM

Don't get me wrong, its definitely interesting. I also geek out on audio engineering topics so it would be nice to read up about.

The reason why I asked is becasue I do not understand how this information helps me make more insightful choices when it comes to the composing or mixing process.

Nevertheless, would be a good read for sure.

5.[SOLVED] SSP: Humanize options missing 5/5/2022 5:21:19 AM

I solved the problem based on a forum post from another user who reported that certain faders in the Mix section disappeared.

By resizing the Synchron Player window manaully to a much wider width all of a sudden the humanize options are back. For some reason it needs much more space than actually required, but after resizing it's there.

My question to you is: even if you get an answer from Paul or other VSL peeps, how does it help you create better music? The mic's and their recorded samples are what they are.

I guess its nice to know if you really want to get into the technicality of the recording session.. but in the end I'd rather focus on my compositions and write music.

7.[SOLVED] SSP: Humanize options missing 4/29/2022 12:10:47 PM

This is also the case for Synchron Brass by the way, although I am not sure if it has the same Humanize options as SSP, I just noticed it isnt there.

8.[SOLVED] SSP: Humanize options missing 4/29/2022 11:48:46 AM

I have Synchron Strings Pro installed for a while, and everything works fine except this one thing.

I noticed that for some reason the Humanize options on the "Edit" tab in the Synchron Player (v1.1.2063, in Studio One 5.5.2) are not always shown. For example, yesterday there was nothing there for Violin 1&2, Celli and Bass, but for the Violas it was there (mind that I am using the same mic preset "classic surround to stereo" for all).

Today, also for the violas this is no longer there. I am talking about the settings here, under #6:

How can I get this back?

Thanks,
Bastiaan

9.Soft Imperial wont install (reports lack of space) 4/26/2022 1:15:26 PM

I just downloaded (and actived in iLOK) the Soft Imperial. It downloaded OK, but as you can see in the screenshot the Vienna Assistant thinks there is a lack of disk space, while there is more than enough available.

How to proceed?

10.Which combination of mic presets for the most realistic sound? 7/17/2021 1:14:36 PM

Combinations of Decca Tree Wide to Stereo and Surround Distant to Stereo work quite well together to achieve an effect of depth between different instruments.

11.Which combination of mic presets for the most realistic sound? 7/16/2021 5:29:45 PM

Messing with my template a bit that is currently using Synchron Strings Pro and Synchron Brass.

If you want to go for the most realistic sound, does it make sense to mix mic presets between those sections (or even individual instruments)?

With that I mean for example: that the brass section is further away than the strings. So would it make sense to put the strings on Classic Sur to Stereo, and the brass on Distant Sur to stereo (I mostly use the Sur to Stereo presets - but feel free comment on others).

Any favorite combinations? Or stuff that just works well? Can I safely assume mixing differnet presets will not cause phasing?

A few rules that helped me at the start:

1) Drag and drop whatever you see.
2) Right-clicking elements show you ALL available options.

Here's a list of a few overview videos to start with.

Hi Paul!

As an SO 5.2 and VSL Synchron Strings Pro user I could not be happier! This really enhances my workflow tremendously. Are you planning to make any more of these demo projects? Those are really great ways to get to know all the articulations in the SSP library.

Thanks again (and to Presonus as well!) for such a great feature!

13.Key switch mapping / dimension tree in Studio One 3/7/2021 10:52:49 PM

As I mentioned above, I do record the instrument. There is just nothing coming in.

Nevertheless, I solved this by just creating a massive 1-dimentional articulation list, and mapped that to the key switches in Studio One. So far works pretty good!

Having a vertically positioned monitor helps as well

Thanks for your reply Paul. I tried that while recording with the selected track so I would have the midi notes for all slots immediately inside.

But so far I do not see any data coming in when pressing midi dump. Or is it sent somewhere else other than the track's midi channel?

No one uses key switches?

16.Key switch mapping / dimension tree in Studio One 3/5/2021 7:30:17 AM

Hi folks,

I have been using Synchron Strings Pro for a while now, and while a love the sound (especially now that I upgraded to the full library - yay :) ) there is one thing that keeps bugging me quite a bit: key switches using the dimension tree.

So first let me say I am using Studio One. This is the DAW I know, and while I hear great things about Cubase's MIDI features I am not looking (hopefully) to switch DAWs. Compared to Cubase, Studio One's key switching is still a bit in the stone ages.. but for most stuff it works.

However, what it can't do is map the dimension tree of the Synchron Player, as there is just no way to store key switches hierarchically. This lead me to a long journey of trying to find some cross DAW "articulation manager" and while I found several, they all seem to support Cubase or Logic only.

Of course I could just enter the MIDI note data manually but this is really cumbersome, and creates other discomforts (not being in the correct KS when skipping back and forth, issues with transposing notes, etc).

The only solution I see at this time is to completely customize the key switches in the player for each instrument. Which is quite some work + the long list of KS slots are going to be 2 pixels high in the Synchron Player when I am done.. (i.e. only using one dimension and not the hierarchical tree structure as per default).

Could you please explain to me how you are dealing with this in your environment?

17.[SOLVED] Change spiccato from modwheel to velocity sensitive? 11/29/2020 1:39:57 PM

Thank you so much for your fast reply. I've seen that property but for some reason thought it was something else.

18.[SOLVED] Change spiccato from modwheel to velocity sensitive? 11/29/2020 11:06:47 AM

Hi all,

Just got myself a copy of Synchron Strings Pro, and I am trying to figure out how I can change the behavior of the Spiccato. I would like them to react to the velocity of the note played on the keyboard as opposed to the modwheel which is the default setting.

Where can I change this?
