1.Vienna Imperial EQ settings for Vienna suite suggestions 11/9/2012 7:58:06 PM

Yes of course you can but I was looking for something deeper. May I suggest that VSl sample a 9' Hamburg Steinway in a concert hall? That would solve the issue and I would be the first in line to order it. So far nothing can touch the Vienna Imperial. However, I think you can do better. Give your programmers something to do. Just because the Bos was a CEUS doesn't mean it has the best tone on the planet. :)

2.Vienna Imperial EQ settings for Vienna suite suggestions 11/8/2012 5:16:02 PM

I am looking for a nice eq setting to use for the Vienna Imperial. I would like it to sound less 'glassy' and rounder somewhat similar to a Hamburg Steinway. yet still retaining the higher frequencies. The lower velocities are perfect as they are, however ones above 50 or 60 can sound a little brittle at times. Any suggestions for eq settings in Vienna Suite?  thanks!

3.ViennaMirPro 24 Audio Input settings with Digital Performer 7.24 10/29/2012 5:48:32 PM

A perfect explanation and success! Bravo Karel.

4.ViennaMirPro 24 Audio Input settings with Digital Performer 7.24 10/29/2012 4:09:48 PM

Thanks Dietz,

I have added the Audio Input in VEPRO5. It gives me input options 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8, In from where? I cannot send a DP audio bus channel to it. I cannot send an RME output channel to it.  Please clarify the routing procedure. I don't see anything in the manual on how to set this up. Does it have anything to do with the Event Input in DP?

5.ViennaMirPro 24 Audio Input settings with Digital Performer 7.24 10/29/2012 2:48:55 AM

I can't get audio to route from DP 7 to Mir24's audio input.  I add an audio channel in DP7/VEPro5 and route this to an RME fireface channels 5-6 and nothing happens. I must be missing something.

Can someone explain how to correctly route audio into MIR24 within Digital Performer?

Many thanks in advance!

6.VE Pro warning for DP users 9/30/2009 7:31:37 AM

Thank you Magnum! You have solved a major problem- for me anyway. I'm using DP7 with VE Pro and now it is working thanks to your insight! My faith in humanity has been restored along with VEPro & DP 7 too. And that is a very good thing indeed.

8.VEPro fails plug-in scan in Digital Performer...any ideas 9/24/2009 4:42:32 AM

from Frodo at motunation:

rather complex to describe quickly. It's sort of like a V-Rack on steroids. Initially, it was designed to work only with Vienna Instruments. Now it hosts third-party VIs and plugins and, if you are using two or more computers it does midi and audio over LAN.

And yes-- someone reported that it worked on their G5, but OSX 10.5 is required.

9.VEPro fails plug-in scan in Digital Performer...any ideas 9/24/2009 4:12:52 AM

hmm ok.. does it work in standalone?  we might be having the same problem- I'll check motunation. what OS are you using? seems you need at least 10.5

10.VEPro fails plug-in scan in Digital Performer...any ideas 9/24/2009 3:31:18 AM

my guess is that it has something to do with network settings, firewall etc. which I have no idea how to set up.

11.VEPRO: DP7 Mas, 0 error failure Initialize 213-1068 9/24/2009 3:27:29 AM

The manual does not show you how to set up the network connections for VEPro. What are the correct firewall settings for example?Do you use DHCP or manual addresses?  I've been using VE2 for years so there IS a reason for this.  VEPRO gives the same error in DP 6.02 so it's not JUST a DP7 issue.

Maestro: You are obviously misunderstanding this if you do not know the difference between VEPro and VE2.

12.VEPRO: DP7 Mas, 0 error failure Initialize 213-1068 9/24/2009 2:12:33 AM

Anyone have any ideas on this?   DP7,  OS 10.6.1

What are the correct network settings to use for VEPro on 1 Mac? I'm looking for a VEPRO setup for dummies. It works in standalone but not as a plug in.

13.VEPro fails plug-in scan in Digital Performer...any ideas 9/24/2009 1:19:08 AM

It passes OK here then crashes when I open it. Does anyone know what file sharing items need to be enabled? thanks!

14.Vienna Imperial 6/6/2009 6:47:00 AM

Great demos ..but I don't get a sense of the piano sustain 'bloom' that you can get on a real piano. At least on my Bechstein at home the sustain is amazing. I would like to hear some more creative pedalling and some louder passages with the soft pedal. Many pianists ignore the louder tone of the soft pedal which is very expressive.

No matter what the demos sound like I'll never know if this piano works for me or not until I try it for a few hours.  I'm hoping this will be the last sampled piano I'll have to buy for a long time.

15.Vienna Imperial 5/17/2009 5:12:16 PM

How much space do we need on our hard drive for this piano?

16.Vienna Imperial 5/2/2009 1:30:51 AM

Excellent! I'm ready to order now....

estimated ship date?

17.Strange Clicks in New VE2 version 2/27/2009 11:06:06 PM

I noticed this over a few days of working with the new VE 2 in DP 6.02. Strange intermittent clicking sounds when playing certain instruments such as the Harp with arpeggios and chords. Just to see if it was the new VE2 or the new VI, I loaded the harp into a new VI and no problems. So, I re-loaded the Dec 18 version of VE2 build 3388, restarted and no more clicks, Problem solved for now.

18.VIENNA IMPERIAL DEMO? 2/7/2009 7:48:44 PM

thanks Michi... did anyone here on this board play it at Namm? It looks like a beast! I want one! Alas, I will settle for the software version as the real one would soon be cluttered up with books and CD's if it were in my studio. :) I do hope that the ppp pp and p voices aren't too bright as many concert grands tend to be.

19.DP6 and Vienna Ensemble 3 Problem 2/7/2009 7:38:31 PM

Simsy. ..I used to have a similar problem to the one you mention where VE2 would lose its settings but the newest version fixed all that in my studio. I'm not using VE3 yet so can't comment on that.. I assume they are the same thing in terms of functions. I am very pleased with DP 6.02.. it should have been DP 6.0 in the first place. Running smoothly here. Let us know how it works for you when installed.

20.VIENNA IMPERIAL DEMO? 2/7/2009 3:15:56 AM

I would love to hear this piano. Do you have any demos? looking forward to it.

21.DP6 and Vienna Ensemble 3 Problem 2/7/2009 3:04:47 AM

Hi .. I just installed Dp 6.02 today and so far no problems at all with VI or VE2. I did notice that it took a long time for DP to analyze VE2 on first startup.. just let it run for 10 minutes. maybe try re installing VE2 & VE3 and repair permissions then reboot as well.

22.DP and VSL's midi channels 1/19/2009 4:00:07 AM

Yes, if you are just using the Vienna Instruments- each instance runs on only 1 Midi channel. Even if DP gives you the option of using Vienna Instruments Midi channels 1-16 it is irrelevant in this case. Just choose Midi channel #1 for each Vienna Instrument that you use.

It is much easier to use Vienna Ensemble with DP and takes only 1 audio track for 16 channels of Vienna Instruments rather than16 Audio Instruments tracks for Vienna Instruments per se. I think there are tutorials on this site for this.

23.DP and VSL's midi channels 1/19/2009 12:33:12 AM

Ryan.. are you using Vienna Instruments or Vienna Ensemble with DP? Both of these will provide as many separate midi channels as you may require. If you're using Vienna Instruments with DP each instance will operate on its own midi channel. When using Vienna Ensemble make sure to specify on the top left side of the individual VI within the VE *PlugIn Midi 1*. ..then.. choose the appropriate Midi channel to the right of that. If you don't do that, all channels on the VE will default to Omni. So in short you must make 2 Midi commands when using the Vienna Ensemble to allocate that channel to 1 Midi channel with D.Performer.

Hope that helps.

24.Hat's Off to the VSL Ensemble Team 1/8/2009 6:26:04 PM
I agree. It is excellent.
25.Inconsistensies in the series? 1/8/2009 6:22:47 PM
I suppose you could set up a cross fade patch using Orch Violins14 sus non vib but that would sound a little strange. x fading is the way to go. I think a non vib Appassionata patch would be most welcome! And far more useful than the out of tune articulations. Then we could bring in the vibrato at the right moment. MIght be nice. :)
