1.When loading PLAY 3.0.15 the samples load twice. EW is aware of the problem and say it only ha... 9/13/2011 12:59:15 PM

I can confirm this behavior.  I tried several of the EW Pianos and they all behave this way.  The Kontakt stuff loads lightning fast, then it gets to Play and it chugs like a snail.

I'd say it'd take a half hour or more if I waited, but what I've been doing is abort the load, let everything else finish, then once the Cubase project is open simply add the piano to the Play VSTi that is already present in VE Pro. Then it loads at normal speed.

So something is happening with Play 3.0.15 that causes it to load slowly while the project is loading, but can be added afterwards with no problem.

That's great news, Karel.  Thank you.

I've already fixed this for the next update release, which still needs to go through beta testing though.

Karel,

For clarification, did you fix the export problem or the VE Pro not letting go of Cubase problem?

So having a Vienna Instruments in the VE Pro instance actually fixes the behavior?

It seems.

did you try rolling VEP to 4.0.5436?

No if I may if I have the chance.

Karel, my happens when I don't have any Vienna Instruments in the VE Pro instance, just Kontakt 4.1.

CSTeam, are you using Kontakt 4.1?

Yes, I am.  The test Karel suggested seems to narrow it down to Kontakt.  And you may be right about the quickload feature.

Do you experience this also without Kontakt in the VE Pro instance? Thanks.

Karel,

Just tested it. You may be onto something.  With only the Vienna Instrument it exports properly.  But with only a Kontakt 4 instrument, it misses almost the first nine seconds of the audio data.

8.Cubase 5.5 Export Audio and VEP 4.0.6150 7/23/2010 12:55:13 AM

I use two systems, one with Win7 64 and one with Vista 64. My Cubase project uses an instance of VEP locally and one on the remote system.  It all works fine when composing and playing back even with 6150 and Cubase 5.5.  If I export at real time it doesn't lose anything off of the front of the song.  If I export faster than real time it loses the first 3-5 seconds of each track.

In my case I use MEAP to export one track at a time have this problem, so I know it's not too much data or anything.  The export starts from the beginning of the midi track but you can see there is no meter movement in Cubase or the VE Pro mixer until it is part way into the export.  At real time, the meters begin immediately and you don't lose anything.

I even tried just exporting one of my tracks manually and moving the midi data farther down but still starting the export area at the front of the timeline so as to give it a few seconds to start up -- but it still loses the first part of the music.  I just assumed this was a Cuase 5.5 issue.  But now beatpete makes me think it was introduced in the new VEP pro.  For me it's just an inconvenience now.

Has noone else found this export problem?

Yes, I noticed this exact problem.  I ended up exporting 30 tracks one at a time at real time.  Just left the station until it was done.  I suppose it was introduced in Cubase 5.5, but I'm not rolling back.  Hopefully, Vienna can sort this out on their end.

10.VEPRO - "product not found" when loading Play VST 3/13/2010 4:47:27 PM

Gemini,

It could be graphic card related though my Vista64 uses two ATI (3870) cards and my Win7 machine uses two Nvidia (9800 GT) cards and I have it working on both.  Could be a driver issue though.

Certainly not worth swapping machine hardware for software deficiencies.

Best of luck. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

11.VEPRO - "product not found" when loading Play VST 3/13/2010 12:31:29 AM

Gemini,

No these are the X64 versions of Play not Jbridged.

Just to make sure..did you save one of your unusable Virframe instances of Ve Pro/ Play where it the GUI was misbehaving and then reload it?

I used to have those same problems but mine all work on both my Win7 and Vista 64 system.  Don't know what else to tell you?

BTW, I love Jbridge.  I was very early on with the beta on this.  The developer is very helpful.  He really deserves a medal from the VI community.

Here's the Server running.

13.VEPRO - "product not found" when loading Play VST 3/12/2010 11:02:44 PM

Gemini,

Sorry for your problems.  The only two things I did was one to remove the Vienna Instruments and make sure I loaded them last if I wanted to use Play.  Also, and I had a similar problem to you, I would get a similar error that the product could not be found.  I would ignore it and even though the screen was white I would save the metaframe.  Then close and reopen VE Pro.  Play would then load normally.

Here's a picture of one of my instances fully loaded with different Play instruments.  All this on a Win7 64 mahcine built on an X58 chipset motherboard and using a Core I7 920.

Don't know if you can see but on the very right of the picture, I overlayed the VE Pro Server to show it was running on 64 bit.

14.PLAY compatibility workaround (Windows) 3/6/2010 12:12:52 AM

So odd.  I've never had any problem using Play in VE Pro on Win7 64bit.  The only suggestion I've followed is to put the Vienna Instruments at the end of the VSTs I load.

15.VIENNA SUITE prevents Final Cut 6.0.6 from opening 3/2/2010 9:57:48 PM

Yeah.  We'll just have to wait.  They sent me a beta but it didn't fix it.

16.VIENNA SUITE prevents Final Cut 6.0.6 from opening 3/2/2010 9:45:28 PM

Exact same specs as yours, JK, and I do have the problem.

So what is the difference?

17.VIENNA SUITE prevents Final Cut 6.0.6 from opening 2/19/2010 9:36:56 PM

Myself and at least one other user mentioned this problem here before but it was never addressed.

IIRC, Karel, it is a syncrosoft licensing error.  Our workaround at my business has been to move all the VSL component plugs out of the component folder so we could work in Final Cut Pro.  We then move them back into that folder to work in Nuendo.

Anyhow, I'm glad this was noticed this time.  I won't be at my station until Monday if you have any more specific questions. Please do look into this.  Moving these plugs back and forth several times a day is a real pain.

Thanks,

Brian

18.MIR demo - where is it? 12/24/2009 1:39:29 AM

Thanks, Pauo, it's just that the wording from the Vienna Newsletter is a little confusing...

quote:

The public beta of Vienna MIR 1.1. is now available for download as a free update to all Vienna MIR users. Vienna Instruments users may test-drive Vienna MIR 1.1 using a free demo license.

The second line led me to believe that any Vienna Instrument user can get the free demo license now.  I'll wait and see until this is all sorted out here.

19.MIR demo - where is it? 12/23/2009 11:47:04 PM

Well, second post in two different threads about the MIR demo and still my question is ignored.

Thanks, anyway.

20.MIR demo - where is it? 12/23/2009 9:21:18 PM

Can I ask a question here since my question in the announcement thread for MIR beta has gone unanswered.

I tried MIR early on when I bought a VSL instrument. It has long since expired.

But now that the beta for the MIR that will host other VSTs is out I'd really like to try it but when I log in it says you already have a trial license (which is true but it is expired)

Can we get this reset so that we can test this new beta?

Thanks,

Brian

21.[Announcement] Public Beta: Vienna MIR v1.1 hosting third party VSTis online 12/22/2009 1:06:04 PM

Do we have to have a current license of MIR?  I tried the other MIR to check it out but didn't own enough of Vienna Instruments to justify cost.  My trial period license has since run out.

So I tried this new beat and it wants a license, too.  How can I get one to demo the beta?

Thanks.

22.VE Pro hang between K3.5 loading 11/29/2009 2:23:28 PM

FWIW, I have the same problem. I just got used to the long loading times.

23.What's the status on PLAY? 11/15/2009 5:59:09 PM

You know, I think Yanick is onto something.

Currently, I'm using only Kontakt 3 ahead of Play in VE Pro (VST 3 plug through the server in Cubase 5) and I have no problem using Play or even loading instances of it.  I noticed the errors were gone when loading Play and that this happened after I deleted the default Vienna Instrument out of VEPro. All this on Vista 64 using two machines and two VE Pro VST 3 plugs.

So it may have something to do with a conflict between these two particular instruments.

24.What's the status on PLAY? 11/2/2009 2:27:00 PM

It works for me both 32-bit and 64-bit on Vista 64 on either local machine or secondary machine.

The only caveat is you have to add as many instances as you want, ignore the errors and the blank gui, save the project and then immediately reopen the project and it works. As reliably as Kontakt.

I'll try to test it on my Mac pro when I have time.

25.[VEPro] Empty VST List 10/13/2009 12:15:19 PM

Don't want to make a confusing situation worse.  But it seems when David isn't 'getting any midi channels' he is referring to when he uses the Vienna Ensemble Pro x64 standalone not the plugin.  Which in that case, David, you wouldn't.  You would have to use ipmidi or MOL to talk to it from Cubase.

And DG is correct, if you use the VST3 plugin inside of Cubase it defaults to 8 midi ports with 16 channels each.
