1.Repetition performance VI vs. VI Pro 3/10/2020 9:37:51 AM

Thanks jasensmith!

I will check the release fader you mencionded, and probably update to VI Pro version in the future to explore the performance repetition options.

2.Repetition performance VI vs. VI Pro 3/6/2020 1:58:14 PM

Hi, After some tries with other articulations I found non_vibrato patch works nicely for the accompaniment I needed. It gives a nice clean sound.

I didn't have this articulation on SE, so definitely I have to explore in detail what Chamber Strings full library has to offer.

3.Repetition performance VI vs. VI Pro 3/5/2020 2:32:08 PM

Hi,

I use VI (not Pro) with SE libraries and yesterday I bought Chamber Strings full library to complete my articulation palette.

Does it make a big difference using VI Pro instead of VI regarding the repetition performance? I saw on the video below that it has a performance repetition editor? what additional parameters can be modify there?

I'm working on a baroque piece right now. I use legato_repet. layered with long detaché for the viola and violin II eighth notes' accompaniment, and I'm not entirely happy with the results. Legato repetition alone sound too legato and a bit unclear, detaché alone sound too separete.

How can I get something inbetween that sounds more natural? After many tries, I layered both articulations legato_repet. + detaché, but I feel it could sound much better. Any suggestions? I had the same similar issue many times. When I need a staccato accompaniment, it works fine with the regular long stacc. patch, but when I need a more legato or a syncopated accompaniment, I have a lot of trouble with the accompaniment patch.

I found this video on internet, but I wonder if there are more dedicated to strings repetitions. Or VI Pro users can give me you own experience. Is the performance editor helpful?

4.Notion vs. Finale for Vienna Special Edition 12/3/2019 8:26:23 AM

Hi, I own vienna Special Edition libraries (vol. 1-4) and I like to know you experience with notation software.

I'm using Finale 2014, with has the HP preferences for SE articulations, though I'm not happy with some of the dynamic playback, specially crescendos and diminuendos.

What's your experience with Notion and SE libraries? I've heard Notion has also articulation control device for Vienna SE libraries. What about the playback and the dynamics control compared with Finale?

I'm using Finale, but I've heard a lot about Notion. It has a very competitive price.

Regards!

5.Switch articulation depending on note lenth 11/13/2019 2:23:02 PM

Tanks Paul! I will check VelocityXF later

6.Switch articulation depending on note lenth 11/13/2019 11:49:53 AM

Hi, I wonder how to switch articulation according with note lenth. Let's say for Clarinet Bb from SE vol.1 & 2:

  • Lenth over eigth notes: Sustain
  • Lenth between eigth notes and sixteenth notes: Legato repetitions
  • Lenth under sixteenth notes: portato

I'm using Vienna Instruments and Vienna Esemble (not Pro) and Finale 2014 as a notation software.

Is it possible to setup that to trigger the right articulation depending on note length?

for strings it switch automatically between sustain or detaché depending on the lenght, so I guess there should be a way to do it. I'm just quiet new with Vienna SW.

Thanks!

Guillem

7.MAC 8GB Ram is ok 9/16/2019 7:30:10 PM

Thanks Paul!

8.MAC 8GB Ram is ok 9/16/2019 4:41:51 PM

Hi,

I'm thinking to renew my PC for a MAC 8GB Ram, Processor 3.6 i5. I'm using basically Vienna Ensemble (not Pro) with Finally and occasionally Cubase. I have some of the SE Edition Libraries (SE vol.1, 1plus, 2 and 4) and Synchron SE vol.1. I also work with some Garritan instruments, but mostly with Vienna.

Do you think 8GB Ram is ok, or it will be very slow and take ages just to load the libraries?

I've been checking out there and a Mac with 16/32 GB is much more expensive.

Now I'm working with old Intel 4GB, which I converted to 8GB, and its a mess...I think Processor and Sound Card are not good either. I never had a Mac before and many people firmly recommended me to switch to Mac for Midi/Audio editing.

Regards!

9.Synchron Player and Synchron library installation problem 6/27/2019 4:04:12 PM

Thanks Selena!

You gave me. I did as you said, opening Synchron Player as a plugin from Vienna Ensemble.

As you, I'm not experienced on that kind of software and I spend a lot of time to solve the problems until everything works properly.

Regards!

10.Synchron Player and Synchron library installation problem 6/24/2019 3:23:30 PM

Hi,

After having registered and installed SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition vol. 1, such as Vienna Synchron Player and Vienna Synchron Pianos, I'm not able to launch Synchron Player, since it is not to found on my Laptop.

When I open Vienna Ensemble I don't find the Synchron library either.

My computer have 4,00 GB RAM. Might it be the problem? In the Synchron Player recomendation says minimum 8,00 GB RAM, recomended 16,00 GB.

Can anyone please help me?

11.Synchronized Special Edition 6/24/2019 9:54:57 AM

Hello Andy,

Yesterday I purchased Synchron SE vol. 1. I already own Vienna SE vol.1, so I upgraded the last one. I use Vienna libraries en combination with Finale 2014.

After activating the product on the E-lisencer and installing the last version of download manager, Vienna Synchron Player, Vienna Synchron Pianos and SPECIAL EDITION Volume 1 – Library Download, but its not working at all.

1- I'm not able to open Vienna Synchon Player or Vienna Synchron Pianos, sinces they dont exist on my computer.

2- when I open Vienna Instruments, Synchron Library doesn't appear.

3- when I open Finale 2014 Synchron library doesn't appear either.

Can you please tell me the steps I have to follow?

Thanks!

12.SE 2 Plus articualtions with Finale 2014 3/6/2019 2:06:39 PM

Hi Andi,

Thanks for your answer.

How can I get the keyswitch dump file and do the settings to play volume 2 Plus articulations?

Is there any tutorial video or post about this issue?

Regards!

Guillem

13.SE 2 Plus articualtions with Finale 2014 3/6/2019 10:21:13 AM

Hi,

I own Vienna SE Volume 1 and 2. I'm thinking to purchase 2 Plus for Chamber Strings with extended articulation, but I wonder if all articulations will work properly, since I have already some trouble with detachés in Volume 2.

Will Finale 2014 trigger all articulations of 2 Plus Volume such as short detaché, drills, spicato...?

How can I set it?

I've read Human Playback preferences for Vienna into Finale don't work with Plus and single instrument libraries.

Regards

Guillem

14.Finale don’t recognize some VSL articulations and crashes when pressing stop 2/13/2019 11:37:05 AM

Hi Andi,

Thank's for the advice. I've noticed that happened to me when I import a Midi file on Finale 2014. I was working with Musescore berore getting VSL, so all my works are in Midi now. And as you said, when I assign an Oboe on the score manager it recognize articulation better, even though there are now and again notes that triggers staccatto articulation. For those I have to delite them and rewrite again (some times it work, some times not).

Do you have any explanation for that?

I also noticed that grace notes are not well writen when importing the midi file, so some solo passages are a mess and I have to rewrite them completely.

There is another way to import midi files, or I have to live with it?

Regards!

Guillem

15.Finale don’t recognize some VSL articulations and crashes when pressing stop 2/12/2019 2:48:57 PM

Hi Everybody,

I’m quiet new with VSL Libraries and Finale and I’m dealing with two problems:

  1. Some of the articulations of  VSL SE Vol. 1 and 2 are not triggered. In particular, I’m writing a piece with Chamber strings  and oboe. Switching between staccatos and sustain articulation, these are triggered properly on strings but not on oboe.

  2. Another may problem I’m having is that when I play and press stop in the middle of the piece the sound get stuck, so the instruments sounding at the moment of stop don’t stop and I have to manually change the instrument assigned to the channel to make them stop playing…which is really annoying. Can it be a reason that I’m using PC and not MAC?

Could anyone help me?

Regards

Guillem

16.> Assigning volume to dynamics (Finale 2014 with VSL Vienna) 1/24/2019 9:57:52 AM

Hello,

I’ve recently started using Finale 2014 with VSL Vienna Special Edition. Library samplers are great, Eventhought I'm struggling with some dynamics issues right now.

I'm writting a sonata piece in F#minor starting with string section in Forte and very energy caracter with stacatos and Tremolos (Thema A). After a few staves comes Thema B in AMajor with very liryc character, performed by Woodwinds in Piano.

The problem is that the instruments don't seem to recognize dynamics properly. The Flute, for example, is playing with volume 89 on VE in Piano. When I change it to Forte it's playing with 92 volume, so i cannot see much differences between dynamics.

Is it possible to assign a volume level for each dynamic, so the performance is realistic in Finale 2014?

Let's say: pp: 35, p: 50, mp: 65, mf: 80, f: 95 and ff: 110
