1.J.Ph.RAMEAU - Les Boréades - Suite des vents 2/15/2013 1:31:45 AM

Interesting, kind of sounds like vivaldi here ... very nice phillippe. Thank you

2.Domenico scarlatti: Quartet for Fl Dolce, 2 vl & BC. 1/14/2013 5:58:52 AM

This is indeed a beautiful piece of music. As you and william indicated so eloquently and with precise and an educated fervent. If i may add that whenever william does give his opinion it is always right on the money, but whenever one tries to re adjust those mixes, they seem to always never fit quiet right as the original mix. Maybe being as one starts an atmosphere and has to go with it all the way to the end by its sensual realistic mix. I don't know, it just seems that the original has so much time and effort spent from the beginning that to re-mix something is as using a good capture with a microphone from the beginning and out performs having to re fix a bad capture. The same with phillips Bach's flute concerto, william suggested to set it back some, and rightfully so of-course, but it wouldn't quiet fall in the pocket as if it was from the beginning mixed in that perspective just the same. Anyway, having said all that, these pieces of music keep me coming back to this forum and just keep one's everyday life all worth it. from any mix. At this point any of us would give anything if we had written anything of this magnitude and professionalism. Not that no one can do it, but it takes all that much of living the previous lifetime and falling through those cracks.

Also, if i may add, the brisk simplicity in which is so describes Scarlatti, and rightfully so is in comp-arising to Rameau's level i suppose. But only in comparison to Bach, Beethoven and the rest. These masters that came before anyone else are a handfulhandfull that are in a league all of their own. The premature keyboard instruments they had at the time in return gave us the advanced orchestral arrangements to follow, rich in contexts and detail and aesthetically highly experienced and correct as you eluded. What a treasure to reach for.

Having said all that again, This should have gotten Ericos corpuscles to boil somewhere at this point. For i might have stepped somewhere on his suggestive commandments:

Criminal Over-Doubling, Notation: Yes! It was meant for Musicians, How to Compose without Electricity (not for the fainthearted), Composition vs. Con-position (aka Organic Growth vs. Crazy Glue), The Unbearable Lightness of Being Hans, The Incalculable Difference Between Actual Composition/Orchestration Lessons at College or Privately vs. Compostition/Orkestration Online "Courses" for the Deaf/Blind, Composters or Orchestrators: Who Actually Deserves the Music Credit Today? P.T.Burnam's Circus Bluetooth-Mouse and Compostitional Techniques for the 21st Century of Great Music.

Hilarious and in its class all on its own. lol

Do we give credit were its due anymore?

If i had it my way, i would just buy me a computer, buy samples, make noises with it. paste it all together. create a market to say. Yes you can do it. listen, its car horns honking and hot air blasting from the rear end. Anyone can do this, therefore buy the cd. And tell all your friends, when they buy the cd then its a million dollar market as opossed to one or two falling through the cracks. I tell you, its a mega multi market. Yes you can do it too. Oh and turn it up loud at the trafic jams and the trafic lights, stop signs, cross intersections. Turn it up, yes you can do it too. 350 million people buying the cd. Everyone falls through the cracks...  Go to your nearest dealer and buy the computer and samples and be somebody. Do not let any of those old funny named composers scare you. This is the real world we live in..

My oxycodone's are starting to wear off ... time to take some more ...

3.Any famous people using VSL? 12/27/2012 5:23:21 AM

I just took two oxycodone. Love brittany and pink

Why doesnt vsl interview those that have proven themselves and contributors to this product like william, guy, paulR, DG, ericos, phillip, and others. I would absorb it with as much interest as newman and elfman?

4.Recorders - a beautiful addition to the orchestra 12/21/2012 10:59:07 AM

Enjoyed that william as did guy's double concertino for flutes. Both very sensous and educational. ∞

5. Bruch: Romanze for Viola and Orchestra, Op.85 12/12/2012 12:22:15 AM

7.Cubase 7 a.k.a How the Day was Ruined... 12/7/2012 10:33:49 AM

I wonder what it would be like today, if the natural resources were depleated, big giant companies took over, no one is able to do anyhing about global warming, food and water are scares, and the power is just about to go out? Where on its last breath, the software companies are trying to squeese anything they could out of kids.

Some time ago, there were those that used candle light to play their acoustic pianos. How the day was ruined for everyone except those with real pianos. Coming sooner than you think, to your local  Dec. 21 2012.

VSL excluded, did a great job for a while there. They should be commended on the contrary. Their products are the best. They dont need any hipe. And it was nice while it lasted..

Sincerely

Just Another Crazy Psychotic Person. LoL,  don't believe any of that. You go have fun and dont worry about anything. Even if the government officials are digging in. Have a nice day !

8.Dimension strings "Vertigo" 10/3/2012 2:20:58 AM

WoW

I googled vertigo, and in 2012 it took over citizen kane as the best movie of all time from sight-sound. You think it's because of the music?

You're right on it William. Thanks

9.Imperial and CPU load in Logic 9/24/2012 9:14:56 PM

Yes, that is exactly what I'm seeing, as you mention clearly... Logic seems to time out after a long session.( but rarely it does it ). It has only done this 3 times actually. So its not a problem, but it seems to do it after draining a long session and as you mentioned, somehow the user acivates it. On the last session, I was just adjusting volocity of notes with the mouse, and it started crackin and poppin as jim described it. Another time a while back, the Imperial Piano caused it, as jim eluded also. The last time it happened, I could not get it to boot up in 64 bit for a few. Then it decided to correct itself. So one needs to keep an eye on the boot up stage and makes sure its in 64 bit, otherwise bypass audio unit scanning and check and uncheck  the 32 bit box to try to get it to boot up in 64 bit correctly... This has been my experience with this issue. And clearly its a memmory issue.. Other recent piano venders recomend atleast 1063 buffer size. I think thats the no., Somewhere in that range anyhow... Also after a long session, if you have a file full of information in the working stage and you try to add a node in the tempo track, it will crash, but save the file in crashed mode, wich is atleast favorable anyhow.. Thanks for responding .. Its good to hear and know the normal ...

Jay

It switched on me just yesterday. When it leaves 64 bit, it doesn't show up again for a while. It boots up on 32 until I boot up the computer a few times. The tempo will crash it most of the time. The 64 bit default completely disappears for a while. Then it returns on its own...

BTW - Love your music. And will purchase your book. You're the real deal..

12.Imperial and CPU load in Logic 9/23/2012 1:50:07 AM

I've had logic switch on me from 64 bit to 32 unexpectedly, which causes the same symptoms. And also check the buffer size. Mine is set to 1024 currently.

13.Need some criticism please 8/23/2012 10:09:33 PM

William you're right about the flute by the way. It almost sounds like the correna flute on the organ which it was created from. Its mixed so good with the rest of the weave.

14.Need some criticism please 8/22/2012 6:46:28 AM

Yes we're trying to get Notater out of jail at the moment....

About CPE's flute concerto that phillip just incredibly finished. At exactly 3:10 to 3:30 CPE uses the organ's harmonics and plays these overtones that can only be gotten from this large concert type of organ. VSL's organ is that very thing. I tried getting it from other organ's but it cannot be achieved from any other but from this large organ only... Go VSL What a great instrument. And this flute concerto is the best sounding and mixed accomplishment we've ever heard up to date. Not to mention the mastery of the Bach weaving tradition and compostion. Perfect music. I'm gonna be listening to it for a while for reference. . Thank's phillip. Absolute masterpiece ...

Well said ericos, as usual.. It also might be of some significance that the emperor needs to be tested of all the scales, fingering and coherent understanding of the musical concept before receiving royalties. 18.OK second trial: Call for good Ideas how to improve my current Draeseke-Project 8/10/2012 6:24:14 PM

Aside from having the time to persue such an astounding project; I just thought i would give credit where credit is due. I also want to thank you for exposing this great composer that  over time, have fallen through the crack. He lives. He lives after all. What enormously, tremendous and trajic music. Cannot be denied.. you took upon all of this while teaching. This is an enormous task that is overbearing to any other. You also have so much more material posted, that you have accomplished with your virtous piano skills. Congratulations, your students are lucky to have a truly experienced virtous pianist to learn from. That is a rare entitelment as well.

I thought of something William said a while back about the MIR; That all you have to do is set it and it will mix everything for you. This might be of help to a great player as yourself, where time is of a restrained occupency. You've got William chiming, This is also helpful as well... Will be looking forwards to the final mix. As well as visit your sight. Wish there were more of this serious material out there. I would like to thank you again, for bringing those that have fallen through the cracks over time, out in the open and to the public.

Ahh, Yes Vienna Konzerthaus.. Thats the big sound....

BTW dietz, your Austrian team of builders came here to my home town and built the same configuration type concert hall for us. Sound quality is supposed to be the same configuration...   Thanks for the correction..

21.M. Rozsa - Ben Hur, Love Theme 5/15/2012 9:56:22 AM

Servando

Weren't you just the other day trying to spread the stereo field and trying to find anything that sound good, that was far off in your computer, getting advices etc..? How surprising in just a few days, you achieve this mastery in mixing? Sorry, just had to validify the discussion in using the MIR. I just purchased it also, to my surprise. It hit the spot for composing. You get the initial starting point on where to begin. And by the way, I'm floored also by your production. And will mention again that VSL has stepped into new boundaries. Perfectly temperedly tuned music heard for the first time. Getting back to MIR. ( Not trying to be conflicting between redundant styles or poise anyone in a tyranical conflict of interest or repression ). But I just found out that the Mozart style comes from his concert hall, to my surprise, the MIR defaults on his hall, and if you play his style with the appassionata strings, first of all, they sounds like any ordinary live strings. But with a magestic grandios flavor. Which is one way to use them. An exception; ( software replacement advantages, as apposed to lushness ). It sounds so realistic, that it exemplifies the sound from which is part of this sound and tradition. The hall is rounded which somehow gives a clear sound of the violins with clearity of the basso also. Complete Clearity of the traditional classical style. This is a surprise to me. I tried switching to shubert's hall, but it did not achieve the traditional mozart sound. So now we know the secret to the sound. This software is the state of the art, hands down... And for your pieces here, again not to take away from your hard work, in which you so eloquently described also. But stunning music. As great art is, exceeding beyond reality. Better than the real thing. Congratulations in this achievement. Now I'm signing off to try to get to this plane myself. Alot of work ahead, and not sure if the age will accomodate or justifies the means. But its worth a shot ! As you so eloquently exemplified here. Will look into Dietz presets also. Thank you.

22.William Kersten music in MIR Pro 5/6/2012 3:31:41 AM

It sounds like watching a block buster movie. Certainly can inspires one's interest in wanting to make a movie for these files...

How long is the time curve this time, with the MIR and VI pro 2 ? Compared to the previous way of producing? Or one should ask, was it easy flow for you. Something new.. Or the tasteful intense parts took just as much care regardless? Certainly movie scoring at its best. Or Perhaps romantic serious music with deep emotion. I'm trying not to define in limitation, at this level. Its not easy. Congradulations on this accomplishment.

23.Does this work compositionally? 4/7/2012 5:52:53 AM

Hi Tom

This works Compositionally quiet well in my opinion. Although, I would start it at .11    The first glance start from beginning might work with full strings. But with all the music today on the net. It might loose the listener until it start picking up. And picks up it does. This is a physically written piece of music.

The piece is Irishy Mozartian and quiet inspiring. Something new. The piano is what makes it. You're a fine pianist for a flutist. This will also push my limitations as an old man at the piano perhaps, You know you and the spanish teacher are the only one's here writing original classical material. You've got my encouragement, stay at it.  Forgive me if I offend anyone, But I'm rarely on the forum. I could be wrong. But I'm not hearing any others, for that reason you most likely scared any responders....

The piece obviously needs the Jay Bacall treatment. I find his demos of Pavane and the Mozart 3rd, mvt. piece the finest on this forum of giving the MIR and VSL justice. His demo's of those pieces have out-done any previous real orchestra recordings. Check with I-tunes. If anyone hears different, please post. Not to put all others down here on the forum either, they're all quiet good, but if you can give the score to Jay and talk him into it. You would see a fine composition just as any from the past.. John Fields was another inspiring Irish that gave Chopin his style. Of-course non of us will ever reach those giants from the past of the privacy stay home and compose age, of build a fire and hunt for your food days, and ther's no plumbing to worry about, or paying for much or any one clamping on and bothering.. We have to go to work in this day and time, food prices keep going up and we're tied with everyone around the world. Head games ! So you're accomplishing a fast pace in composition in the midst of .... a rare Hurra !!

Its wonderful to hear others put up mozart and Bach's music being finally sampled in a matter of hours by fine programmers. This forum is really picking up in the musical genre'. And Those that write their own compositions should be noted for it is quick and it takes 20 minutes to write, after a lifetime of training !  From the age of pre romantic, structure oriented and piano dynamic era. If you get PaulR's and Williams blessing here, then you're established. You might have to throw something at PaulR to wake him up. He's propably sun-bathing on the english riviera...

Please keep posting your new pieces, I'm quiet interested in new material and fine music. Like fine wine, it has to ferment in time, and recognized with others, for it might be a good year for tom....

Ther's no need to reply please. Keep your piece of mind. For if you have that, you have everything.

25.More Wind Quintet 3/6/2012 8:46:19 AM

This is a beautiful piece of music. The harmony & arrangements is masterful...I'm surprised no one commented, so I guess I will ; ( It was obviously written with an organ and someone who knows how to play the complete pedals and both keyboard at once ).

1. As to the first part or beginning half, programing the tail notes staccato is too short from episode to episode. Give the end of the notes some more tail. Extend them a little and retard the tempo a bit to create a realistic feeling to it, as of four individuals eying each other at every ending... it was meant to be that way. The notation grid constricts it a little too much.

2. I know i have no right to mingle with the theme, the melody or the structure of this fine composer. But the very ending could have gotten the F7 to Bb defining treatment as apposed to Eb to Bb last closing bar. Unless it is to continue, thus explaining the ongoing deliberate extension..

The VSL instruments are perfectly attuned and clear. This is very exciting and new in this day and time.

Did you use the MIR ?  Just curious. The mix is right.
