1.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/30/2020 5:40:39 AM

Hi Ben,

Thanks for sending me the beta. So far it has been working great in Cubase. I will test VEP 7 later. Thanks to you and your team for looking into this and finding a fix.

Dave

2.Problem with Expression map 7/21/2020 7:21:27 PM

This was happening to me as well in Cubase 10.5. The only solution I had was to go back to Cubase 10.

Here is a link to the Cubase forums about the problems.

Ok Ben,

I sent you 2 mini dumps using we transfer. That was for the using Synchron VST3 plugins hosted in Cubase.

Today I also had drop outs (red hard drive flashing) using VST2 plugins hosted in Cubase. So I am sending you 2 more mini dumps called, Cubase10a_VST2.dmp and Cubase10b_VST2.dmp

Hi Ben,

I have 2 mini-dump files. They are about 175 MB. Too large for regular email. What is the best way to get them to you?

Dave

6.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/13/2020 6:20:49 PM

Hi Ben,

Yes. NVMe SSD, read speed 625 MB/s. I set the preload to 8192.

7.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/13/2020 3:53:53 AM

Hi Christopher,

I was able to run a couple of Cubase projects for a few hours with no issues after changing the VST3 plugin for the VST2 plugin. Luckily the Synchron presets are compatible between VST2 and VST3 so it is not that big of a deal. interestingly enough both of these projects use the Synchron Piano player that only comes in VST2 and I have never had an issue with it. So It may be a VST3 issue with the Synchron player.

8.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/12/2020 8:51:11 PM

Unfortunately, after about 45 minutes into Cubase I started to get the dropouts and the red hard drive again(with and without MMCSS). I am using the VST3 version fo the Synchron player. I am going to try the VST2 version for the loaded intruments to see if that makes a difference. My processor is the intel 9900k I may try to disable hyperthreading to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks again,

Dave

9.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/12/2020 5:51:52 PM

Yes, I had multiple versions of the same driver. I had never seen this before. They were a different color and slightly greyed out. I could only uninstall the latest one. When I tried to uninstall the others (there were at least 5) windows would not let me do it so I had to use that free tool CCLEANER to get rid of the others.

I will be testing cubase soon!

10.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/12/2020 7:44:54 AM

Hi cgernaey,

I tried Ben's suggestion about enabling MMCSS but still had the same problem. I almost gave up for the night but then decided to uninstall (control panel, uninstall a program ) the RME drivers and software. I rebooted then reinstalled the RME driver then rebooted again.

It seems to be working much better now. It is to early to tell if the issue is gone but I playback looped a large template in VEP 7 for an hour and a half and came back and there was no hard drive flashing symbol.

Would be interested to see if you tried the same thing if your problem would improve. Just make sure to sort the uninstall list by Publisher to get everything by RME.

I am going to try Cubase 10.5 tomorrow and will let you know the results. Still to early to tell but maybe windows update messed with the driver somehow.

Hi Ben,

I have attached a jpeg. Ram is 24 out of 32.

Hi cgernaey,

I updated and it did not fix the problem.

13.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/5/2020 8:44:51 PM

HI ben,

While working in VEP 7 today I also found another strange bug. If you have all of the violins

loaded for dimension violins 1 through 8 in synchron player, and then go to options>preferences>then close, in VEP 7 the first 2 violins in the synchron player get their solo buttons turned on in the mixer page.

This also happens for the second violins, violas, chelli and bases.

14.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/5/2020 7:13:08 PM

Hi Ben,

No, I never change the audio buffer size when the project is running. But I have tired to change it before opening a project to see if it (RME UFX, 512,1024,2048)would fix the dropouts but it does not help.

As for other software running. All of the instruments are running through MIR, in Cubase I use the VST plugin and in VEP 7 I use the VSL built in plugin. In the synchron player I bypass all of the impulse responses. I believe for the synchronized dimension strings I load the last preset (default) in the synchron player that has all of the impulse responses bypassed

I have also tried changing the buffer sizes in MIR all the way up to 8192 and still get dropouts.

Also the problem happens much more frequently in Cubase than VEP 7.

15.Strange dropout behavior in synchron player. (Synchron strings, syn Dimension strings etc..) 7/4/2020 10:29:20 PM

Strange dropout behavior in Synchron player.

This happens in VEP pro7 or Cubase 10.5.

Everything will be working fine for a period of time (anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours) then I will start to get dropouts for seemingly no reason with the Synchron Player (does not happen with Dimension Strings in VIPro 2 with the same preload from the same M.2 SSD).

Even though the cpu meter for the Synchron Player is at about 2-4 % and the peak never goes over 20% I will start to get dropouts and the RED hard drive symbol will start flashing.

Normally to fix this I will restart Cubase or VEP pro 7 and the problem will be gone again for a while.

It happened again today so I started to play around with the streaming thread settings in the Synchron Player.

Just changing the setting, say from 6 to 10 or 16 to 12 fixes the problem the same way as restarting VEP pro 7 or Cubase 10 does.

It does not seem to matter what setting I change the thread too, just the act of changing it resets the player somehow and no dropouts for a while.

Again with the same preload setting  (same m.2 NVME SSD) 8192 for VI pro 2 dimension strings I never get dropouts.

I have the latest software. Win 10 64

Thanks,

Dave

16.Synchron Strings 1, legato, auto-speed, non vibrato 7/1/2020 7:20:28 PM

Ok thank Andi,

The copy and paste works.

Dave

17.Synchron Strings 1, legato, auto-speed, non vibrato 7/1/2020 5:57:30 AM

With Synchron Strings 1 and Sibilius I am having trouble getting this to work.

D-Legato > B-AutoSpeed > (normal,fast) > No Vibrato.

When ever I try to play back a number of legato-non vibrato notes back to back it always reverts to this

D-Legato > F#-Normal > no vibrato

If I play back the same notes above but with legato-regular vibrato it Works and I get this

D-Legato > B-AutoSpeed > (normal,fast) > Regular vib

I have the latest software and soundsets installed.

Thanks,

Dave

Are there going to be any Sibelius Sound set for them.

19.Sibelius Soundset and Cubase Expression Maps for Dimension Strings III and SYzd Dimension Str. I-III 4/15/2019 1:11:48 AM

Ok thanks Andi,

I fugured it out. I just thought that SYNCHRON-ized Dimension Strings would behave more like SYNC strings and

SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings with sibilius.

For instance I can use one musical staff in Siblius to contoll both SYNC strings and SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings and then mix them to taste in VEP as all of there articulations seem to be in sync.

I realize that SYNCHRON-ized Dimension Strings are much more complex.

20.Sibelius Soundset and Cubase Expression Maps for Dimension Strings III and SYzd Dimension Str. I-III 4/12/2019 4:38:03 PM

Thanks Andi,

I am trying to use SYzd Dimention strings with SYzn strings at the same time with sibilius. Trying to play "mormal"

SYZn strings goes  full >  long > F # normal

SYZn dimension strings goes Regular > Long notes > F# Marcato (instead of sustain).

Is there a simply way to get these in sync.

21.NEW SYNCHRON PLAYER UPDATE 1.1.1159 4/4/2019 4:02:46 PM

Hi Paul,

I think I have found a repeatable bug in 1.1.1152. This happens in Cubase 10 64 bit in Windows as well as the latest version of Vienna Ensemble Pro 64 bit.

-Load the lastest version of the synchron player

-Load dimension synchron Strings 1 1st Violins all players.

-now try to unload the impulse response for player 1, Player 2 ,player 3 and player 4 (I like to use lexicon reverb)

-when you get to player 3 or 4 of unloading the impulse response Synchron player starts to go into

"Mearuing Streaming performance" for no apparent reason and then hangs.

Hi Andy just wondering if soundsets are coming for the new Dimension strings.

23.synchron piano not working 11/23/2018 5:29:56 PM

Hi Paul,

I updated to fix this problem. I have the latest vesions of VE pro and synchron pianos. The problem of the crash is fixed but now I can't get to the MIX page of synchron Pianos. It seems to be blocked out. I am on windows 10 64 bit.

Dave

24.Strange bug in Synchron Player after 1.0.1118 9/10/2018 8:19:16 PM

Windows 10 64 bit with Vienna Intruments pro server 64 latest version.

If I use any version newer than 1.0.1118 I start to get strange dropouts whenever more than one mic postion is loaded.

1) load one instance of vienna synchron player.

2) load the close mic and mid mic for 1st violins.

3) play something on a real or virtual keyboard and eventually the mid mic will start dropping a lot of sound. Solo the close mike and everything plays fine, unsolo the close mic and solo the mid mic and you will still hear the sound cutting out.

This does not happen with verson 1.0.1118 only newer versions.

25.SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings Sibelius Sound Set and Cubase Expression Maps 7/31/2018 2:03:34 AM

Thanks,

I am also having trouble getting Detache to work for SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings.

In the manual I only see two references to detache.

1) Detache: Create the Technique Text command “detache”.

2)Detache short: Create the Technique Text command “short”.

I tried both, but no luck. Can you verify on your end that detache works. I use is all the time for Dimension Strings and it works.

Thanks again,

Dave
