1.VEPRO - sometimes can't see instances on farm units 2/19/2011 10:29:44 AM
Yes, this has also happened to me but only on one specific Cubase 5 project. The Connect/Disconnect portion of the plugin is blank but once you type in the IP it does connect. I created a new CB5 project and I could "see" the slave with no probs.
2.VE Pro and RealGuitar not really working - can someone do the following test? 2/19/2011 10:19:35 AM
Hi:
A bit off topic but could one of you who owns Real Guitar explain how you use it as a plugin? Don't you need an audio channel input? What about latency?
I use Amplitube 3 and would love to use it in VEPro to offload the processing in Cubase.

Thanks a lot.

3.VE pro, instances and 4 GB limit 9/24/2010 7:49:43 AM
Hi: I would like to add something I discovered today
JBridge lets you wrap 32bit vsts in a 64 bit wrapper.
I converted my existing 32 bit plugins to 64 bit in a new folder. I now have my original 32bit plugins and a 64bit version of them as well.
I opened a 32 bit server instance and a 64 bit server instance. I was able to use both with my original 32bit vsts and also my newly converted (wrapped in 64) vsts.
What's more I now had 2 separate memory resident processes. That's all the further I got as I had to go to work but I will continue to experiment further when I get home.
4.VE Pro Warning: Avoid "Green" Gigabit Switches 9/23/2010 7:40:59 AM
Update to my post re: Asus GX D1081:
I may have been too quick to justify the above switch as the cause. What I didn't mention was that the switch was also connected to a 100Mb Router which was connected to an internet modem. Since this was at the end of the chain I didn't feel it relavent.(sp)
After the success with the one cable between 2 pc's I put an Asus switch between the 2 PCs. I detected no problem although I only tested for about an hour.
I started adding back all of my PCs and my other switch and still I was click free.
When I hooked of the 100mb router to the switch the clicks and pops started to occur.
Not sure what this means at this point as there are still variables I've yet to think of.

Jumbo Frames are set in the Network Card. I'm no expert but it is usually disabled at default. Once enabled, I believe both cards must have the same size of frame to work. (Which is selectable in Properties (Win).

5.VE Pro Warning: Avoid "Green" Gigabit Switches 9/22/2010 1:57:21 AM
Yes.
I have (had) 2 Asus GX D1081.
I just installed VE Pro and was testing with small instances. I immediately noticed the pops and clicks. Tried changing buffer settings in my sequencer, tried a non firewire card (THAT did work alot better (PCI slot digi 9652)) . While things improved I would still get occasional pops and glups etc.
I set my network cards to enable Jumbo frames (I forgot how large). I think these things did improve performance but didn't solve the issue.
I bypassed both switches and ran a long (pretty old by the way so I don't know what "cat" number it is)network cable between both PC's and all problems ceased.
I stumbled on this message searching for a tried and true switch that works for others.
In the $30 range if possible

Thanks.
6.Epic Orchestra Demo MIDI file corrupt 9/21/2010 7:38:33 AM
I have found that all of the large (500Mb)files on the Epic Orchestra downloadable area are corrupt by the time they finish. I have been trying all night with a good internet connection, and 3 different browsers. Could be their server tho and not the actual files.
