1.constant clicks with Ensemble, Cubase 8 Artist, and Windows 10 3/29/2017 11:31:54 PM

Hi Paul,

Very good question, I'll check and I will report back.

Would you recommend I set it to off?

2.constant clicks with Ensemble, Cubase 8 Artist, and Windows 10 3/29/2017 10:10:07 PM

I've had similar behaviour in Cubase since Cubase 8. Problem still there with Cubase 9 and Windows 10.

CPU usage is low, buffer size at 256 samples (RME UFX) but I get the random clicks.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to try as this problem has been plaguing me for around 4 years now on three different computers.

3.Does the edit vst instrument show VEP GUI yet? 10/2/2014 8:58:10 AM

I am familiar with VEP, I have demoed the product extensively .

The reason I am asking is because I had asked here before and I was informed that the developing team are trying to implement this but they were not sure if and when.

i guess one way to implement this would be when you press the edit instrument button VEP triggers the right instrument to show up.

4.Does the edit vst instrument show VEP GUI yet? 10/2/2014 12:13:02 AM

This sounds promising!

So does that mean that when I click on the Edit Vst Instrument icon in Cubase (or even more importantly on my controller, the CC121) will I get the instrument's GUI instead of the generic VEP gui?

Any updates on this feature being implemented ? (Maybe in VEP6?)?

Or a workaround ? :)

6.Does the edit vst instrument show VEP GUI yet? 4/28/2013 2:08:42 PM

Thank you DG, I wasn't actually expecting this feature before a major update. It would be good to know whether it is going to be implemented though.

7.Does the edit vst instrument show VEP GUI yet? 4/28/2013 1:18:28 PM

Hello,

I have been wanting to purchase VEP for a long time, however my only gripe is that when you press the "Edit VST instrument" icon in Cubase or any other DAW, the VEP server GUI shows up instead of the VEP instance that has the actual virtual instrument.

I know some people might think that this is not so important but for my workflow it is a very important thing as I am constantly tweaking the VST instruments I am using and I also have invested a lot of money on controllers that allow me to open the instrument's GUI with the touch of a button.

I remember that it was mentioned here that this would be something to be implemented in the future. Does this feature exist yet? If not is it going to be implemented in a future update. That's the only thing that keeps me from purchasing this excellent piece of software.

Thanks in advance

8.VIP2 and slow/laggy GUI 2/14/2012 11:59:45 AM

Hello George,

I am sorry for the delay but I was not in my studio this period.

I have to report something that I found though as it might help.

During the weekend before your response here, I was trying to do some kind of troubleshooting.

I deleted Cubase's preferences. It made no difference so I restored them.

What I found is that when I switched my 3D settings in Nvidia panel to Optimize for better performance I am not able to reproduce the problem anymore. The second thing I did is I installed the latest Quicktime.

I don't know how this can be connected to the problem but for the time being, I am not able to reproduce the problem yet. I don't see the reason why I had to set Optimize for better performance in Nvidia panel though. It's not like VIP2 is a 3D application or something.

Hope this helps a bit.

9.VIP2 and slow/laggy GUI 1/28/2012 3:58:59 AM

1. Local screen. Single screen.

2. No VEP

3. Yes, latest nVidia drivers

4. No it does not update smoothly. There is tremendous lag.

10.VIP2 and slow/laggy GUI 1/25/2012 1:10:47 PM

I have to add that I tried loading VI (not Pro) in the same project and it does not have any GUI problems so this is specific to VI Pro

11.VIP2 and slow/laggy GUI 1/25/2012 12:59:29 PM

I am experiencing a very erratic behaviour with VIP2's GUI.

I have a project with just one instance of VIP2 (only a harp patch) and the CPU is about 20-25%. I use 4GB of RAM out of my total 12.

Vienna Instruments GUI has a very big amount of lag, Meters are very slow, the controls do not move when I use the mouse but it takes about one second to update.

For what it's worth, all other plugins (even graphics intensive spectrum analyzers) show up smoothly with no hiccups or lag.

Anyone else experiencing that?

I am using the latest version if VI Pro2

12.Is there a way to show VEP Gui instead of server? 12/7/2011 2:08:24 PM

Thank you for the reply Karel!

Yes, that would be a huge time saver. I am really looking forward to purchasing VEP5 and this addition would make it a no-brainer for me.

13.Is there a way to show VEP Gui instead of server? 12/7/2011 1:45:29 AM

Bump!

14.Is there a way to show VEP Gui instead of server? 12/6/2011 12:20:05 PM

I am running the demo version of VEP 5 at the moment and I find it a really exciting piece of software.

One of my little gripes that I have found to dislike is the fact that when I press the button to show the GUI of the VST instrument in Cubase, the VEP server interface comes up. I really would prefer to have the actual VEP showing up instead of a generic window. I have paid a good amount of money to have an external controller for Cubase so that I can just press a button and the VSTi Gui to appear instantly on the screen. So if the server window comes up I have to click multiple times in order to have the VSTi interface show up.

Another consequence of this is that the VEP interface always disappears behind Cubase like it's a different app (maybe it is but...) so I cannot work with Cubase (editing) while I also have VEP in front of me.

Please let me know if there is an option for these things as I only demoed VEP 5 for two days and it is very possible I am missing something. For the time being, I am impressed, but these two things really put me off.

15.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/6/2011 1:22:46 AM

I did some testing with the ethernet controller disabled. Unfortunately, it made no difference. Same symptoms.

16.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/5/2011 12:12:33 AM

Agreed, but why would it happen only 2-10 minutes after I load VIP and then stops completely?

17.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/4/2011 11:31:47 PM

Hmmm... Yes it definitely happens in Standalone. I also thought Cubase had something to do with it but I ran it Standalone and in VEP 5 standalone and still the spikes occured.

I will try to disable the ethernet controller but I am almost sure that this did happen in the past when I had the ethernet controller always disabled. Same thing on my laptop. Always had ethernet controller disabled and it still happened.

Plus, DPC latency checker shows very stable and low values around 100μs

But I'll give it a try. Thank you. Any other suggestion that pops in mind I will be happy to try as this may seem like a not so important matter but it gives me a hard time because I give presentations/tutorials with VIP and spikes are never good for people to see/hear.

18.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/4/2011 10:36:24 PM

Of course:

Windows 7 64 bit

Dedicated DAW PC, no antivirus installed

Cubase 6.05 64bit

Motherboard: Asus P6T

RAM: 12GB DDR3

CPU: i7930

Hard drives: 500GB 7200rpm system hard drive, 3x1.5 TB 7200rpm hard drives. Vienna Sample Library is installed in one of the 1.5 TB hard drives with 64MB cache.

Video Card: Asus 9400 GT Silent

Audio interface: RME UFX, latest software (but same problem used to happen with RME Multiface and TC Electronic Impact Twin).

I have to mention, that I used to have the same problem on a Toshiba Windows laptop running Windows XP in the past.

It is very peculiar because, after 2-10 minutes pass, everything runs smoothly. Apart from that, if I close Cubase , restart it and use VIP again, the spikes do not appear. Same when I run in standalone. If I run VIP , close it, open it again, the spikes do not appear. It's just the very first time that I load an instance that these problems happen. And it happens even with one single instance, there is no difference if I add 1 instance or 100. Even if I have 50 VIP in some projects (sometimes I do), after 2-10 minutes everything runs smoothly.

Another thing to note is that when the spikes happen, Windows Task manager shows nothing wrong, and DPC latency checker reports perfectly normal values like nothing happened.

Hope that helps, if you need more info, I will be glad to provide you with it.

19.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/4/2011 9:34:54 PM

 Thank you,

I installed the latest version (64bit) but I am afraid it has not solved the problem for me. Sound cuts off when loading a Vienna Instruments Pro 2 either VST or Standalone.

20.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/4/2011 1:59:24 PM

I am actually running 2.09650. Thanks for the heads up. Is there something in the new update that might solve this problem?

21.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 12/4/2011 12:00:55 PM

So, I am demoing VEP5 now and the spiked are still present even with this configuration. I hope someone can give a hint on what may be the problem

22.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 11/28/2011 8:15:26 PM

 For what it's worth,

I tried running Vienna Instruments Pro 2 in standalone mode. This yielded the same results. That means that this is not something relevant to my sequencer (Cubase 6) as it also happens when in standalone.

I am really running out of ideas, but I will let you know of further observations in case someone comes up with something. Just want to say once more that this ONLY happens with Vienna Instruments, all my other libraries (Kontakt, PLAY etc do not introduce this problem.

23.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 11/26/2011 10:08:39 PM

I am working on a project right now. Just with one VI Pro2 Patch I get random spikes.

What I noticed just now, is that the spikes occur even when I am not playing anything on my keyboard. Turning off VI Pro makes the spikes disappear.

24.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 11/25/2011 11:20:15 AM

Thanks,

No, I always wait for the loading to complete. I was not talking of such an obvious background procedure. Vienna Instruments Pro is so quick in loading times anyway. There must be something else.

And my system is in the signature by the way, I run VI Pro2 in 64bit Cubase.

25.Asio spikes with VI Pro-Not performance related 11/25/2011 10:53:43 AM

Due to the fact that PLAY used to produce loud burst noises in the past if you tried to play while loading, I have learned to wait for samples to load before playing. But I think you've got a point, there's GOT to be some background activity going on when this is happening because after a while it disappears and I can playback a 30instrument arrangement without a single click or pop and with very low CPU consumption.
