1.Turning on looping in sequencer mutes audio 10/1/2022 7:12:22 AM

Did this ever get solved? I'm having a similar issue. Thanks!

2.Special Edition layers? 6/7/2012 1:23:23 PM
I've also found the ff layers for most of the brass in SE1 aren't very good. Solutions I've used/considered:

* really working with automating the x-fade, without triggering the ff layer -- creating a good-sounding envelope for a loud note;
* mixing different patches and layers, again automating the x-fades -- maybe using the ff layer or staccato patch for just the attack;
* and of course, checking out one of the brass packages.
3.Beginner Error - Locked Me Out - Please Help 5/16/2012 7:55:33 PM
Ok, I figured it out. Here's what I did in case it's helpful to someone else. It seems like the eLicenser software (current version) is unresponsive if there's an error, at least in this case, and I couldn't even access the Logic project without VSL. I dragged HD > Library > Application Support > Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser and HD > Library > Application Support > eLicenser to the Desktop. Then when I opened the project, Logic gave me errors that there was an AU plugin problem, but it continued without it.
4.Beginner Error - Locked Me Out - Please Help 5/16/2012 5:17:56 PM
Also, when I Force Quit Logic, the eLicenser window stays, which means it's coming from some separate software. I suspect that if that software weren't there, Logic would do what it would normally do and load everything but the problem plugin. For some reason, the eLicenser software is preventing Logic from proceeding, and there's no way to interact with it, apparently. So, is there a way to temporarily disable the eLicenser software, which would at least let me into the project?

Thanks again!
5.Beginner Error - Locked Me Out - Please Help 5/16/2012 4:42:52 PM
Hope someone can help.

I forgot I added one VI to a Logic project on my laptop, and the samples are on an external drive I don't have with me, and I don't have the Vienna key with me. When I try opening, a window pops up saying "eLicenser Control - Error... Click to abort", but I can't click anything. It gives me the spinning wheel, and the Force Quit window lists Logic as not responding.

If I ever tried opening a project with a plugin problem before (like an expired demo), Logic has always let me in to the project even though the plugin wasn't available.

How can I get into this project?

Thank you!!!!
6.Finding Special Edition sounds in Logic 5/16/2012 2:08:47 AM
You need to assign tracks to receive input from either Vienna Instruments or Vienna Ensemble (Track I/O > AU Instruments > VSL).
7.New Special Editions 5/14/2012 10:00:51 PM
I discussed some of this with a VSL person here:
http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/32131.aspx

Apparently, the samples in SE Vol. 1 are exactly the same as SE Standard, so there's no benefit from downloading in that regard. I didn't ask about SE Vol. 1 Plus. A benefit to downloading though is that the data for the old Standard and Extended libraries is no longer inseparable. So, if you don't have the old Extended versions, and if you download the new editions and delete the old ones, that should free up a lot of disk space while giving you the same samples. I was also told that replacing the packages in this way shouldn't be a problem in existing VE/VI projects.
8.New Special Editions Nice, But Had Just Bought Old One... 5/14/2012 6:50:35 PM
Hey that's great, and I guess it knows the license is the same.

Thanks again!
9.New Special Editions Nice, But Had Just Bought Old One... 5/14/2012 3:48:13 PM
Thanks for the fast reply!

So if it's Euros, the price difference might be small. I haven't bought any download products from you. Out of curiosity, how does that work: VSL doesn't accept dollars, so the currency exchange is handled by the customer's credit card?

Returning SE Standard as you describe seems like a big hassle (but seemingly not as big as if I had other licenses on the Vienna Key I wanted to keep). That's good that the samples are identical to those in SE Vol. 1, however am I correct that Vol. 1 is 26gb smaller? If so, that's reason enough to look into replacing it. Or, maybe VSL has thought about this and there's a way now to remove the unused SE Standard samples?

Thanks again!
10.New Special Editions Nice, But Had Just Bought Old One... 5/14/2012 2:31:59 PM
ugh...

I bought SE Standard from Musician's Friend a few weeks ago. It's still listed there for $420; it was a bit less with one of their discount offers. Now I see SE Vol. 1 to download for 310 (dollars, Euros?). Life...

Couple questions as I see what recourse I have, if any:

* Can VSL address this, or is my only option to go back to Musician's Friend?

* The SE Vol. 1 description says it's 32gb. The SE Standard I recently bought is 58gb. I understood that was because it actually installed the Extended library as well, even though I can't access it. I just want to confirm that they've changed the way this works, and new SE Vol. 1 is exactly the same as old SE Standard?

* Are there any issues if I can return the old and buy the new, like with work I've already done? For example, I have VE templates I created and started refining. If the library is replaced, will the templates recognize the new patches as identical to the old and load them correctly into the various VI matrices?

Thanks!!
11.Advantages of using Vienna Ensemble 5/3/2012 7:26:00 PM

Actually here's a good thread about this, including interesting post by Charlie Clouser:

12.Advantages of using Vienna Ensemble 5/3/2012 7:16:01 PM

Same question here.  VE has the power pans, but the interface is a little clunkier than Logic I think.  Is VE doing something behind the scenes, like with memory or CPU management, that makes it worth loading the extra plugins?

Thanks!

13.Trumpet Harmon Mute 4/19/2012 8:04:49 PM
I'm very excited to have just bought VSL SE! I did a lot of comparison shopping, and two VSL demos that are very persuasive, in my opinion, are the beginning of "Rite of Spring, Part I" (for woodwinds, which I realize can't be achieved with SE alone) and "Fanfare for the Common Man" (for brass).

However, as I was having my mind blown listening to "Rite of Spring", right after the awesome Eb clarinet part a couple of minutes in, the trumpet comes in with a harmon mute! What?! I gotta say, after being initially perplexed, I find it kind of comical. Don't get me wrong, I went with VSL despite this because I think the good things outweigh.

But not having trumpet straight mutes is a pretty big oversight for supposedly industry-leading orchestra samples. (I haven't listened enough to muted trombone excerpts to know if the same issue exists with them.)

I saw that there have been posts about this before -- about a year ago was the last one I think -- so I'm wondering if anyone knows if this has been addressed or if there are plans to address it?

Thanks!!
