1.Please, consider implementing this feature into VE Pro. 2/5/2023 12:31:25 PM

But I am speaking of doing this from Cubase, without setting up automation for hundreds of tracks.  I apologize if I am just missing this feature.

2.Please, consider implementing this feature into VE Pro. 2/4/2023 11:51:15 PM

I haven't been this excited in years, but I have started on the path of creating my own custom template with on two PCs with Cubase and two servers of VE Pro.  I don't know why this all seems so amazing all of a sudden, but it just does and I can't get enough of figuring all this out right now.  I think I just want a very comprehensive starting point for composing without rebuilding a session EVERY single time.  I have a LOT of libraries, Synchron, Synchron-ized, and others.  Building this template is forcing me to get familiar with ALL of them.

So the feature;  Why have you not just implemented a midi-learn or dedicated midi command for enabling and disabling track/channels in VE Pro?  I am loading a LOT of libraries, and it's really exciting, but I'll obviously want to start with nearly, if not all, Synchron Players, Kontakt instruments, etc, in the disabled position.  I know that disabling can be automated, but it has to be setup for EVERY single instrument, and that's a little crazy.  Why not just say that midi CC-XX turns on and off the enable/disable, so there is no setup, other than having a single midi button, fader or knob set to that cc number, and it would work for ALL the instruments in all instances, immediately.

So much of VE Pro is so well thought out, that this just seems like an oversight as people constantly build disabled templates.  Please don't take this as a complaint, but I do feel really strongly that it should be a no-brainer to implement this or something like it.  Alternatively, perhaps you could make it a simple right-click to "midi-learn" that enable/disable button, so that any already established midi controller could be setup per track in a second or two.

I am not super experienced in all of this but am working my way through learning everything I need to in order to utilize all this great stuff.  I have no doubt that someone will chime-in and explain that I'm somehow missing an easier way that already exists, but to me, it seems like we currently have to assign the automation to every single instrument in VE Pro to accomplish a simple enable/disable from a midi track in our DAW.

Thanks for listening and I'm all ears if I'm missing something.

3.VE 6 colour pallete 1/24/2023 12:56:59 PM

Thank you!  This is MOST welcome!  :)

4.VE 6 colour pallete 1/24/2023 11:33:30 AM

As far as I can tell (I'm on VE Pro 7) this is still what we have to work with.  I'm setting up a new template now, and it's just a real drag.  My Cubase colors are really specific and I even grade them from light to dark for higher-to-lower pitches of things, like my strings are all green, but the violins 1 will be a very light green, and the basses much darker, etc.  It really helps me navigate and make sense of large templates, and that is exactly why I am using VE Pro.

Any chance you can throw us some hope, VSL?

Best regards,

Thank you Andreas. I'll update my cables.  I'm also just going to give the server machine a full re-install and see what happens.  It's not just for VE Pro issues, but it's probably long overdue.  Fingers crossed.

6.VE Pro 7.2.1481 experiencing dropouts 1/22/2023 11:38:35 PM

I have two Windows PC's. The primary/host PC is a Windows 11 machine running Cubase 12 Pro and VE Pro 7.2.1481 Server I have VE Pro running on this same machine with a physical iLok and it works perfectly. No dropouts, no perceivable latency.

My 2nd machine is running VE Pro 1.2.1481 Server using the iLok cloud, but I have a physical iLok on the way.

Both of these machines are connected directly to each other with a CAT5 cable and a dedicated network card each, separate from their internet connections which are through their motherboard's integrated network.

With just a single instance of Kontakt on the secondary machine and nothing but the one instance of VE Pro on the primary machine, I get audio dropouts, probably on average of every 30 seconds. It's definitely not an acceptable workflow. I have changed thread counts, adjusted buffers, ensured everything I know how, but I still get dropouts. The latency seems really good and responsive, but just every now and then, the audio is totally interrupted for a second or two.

I've scoured the internet for solutions and chased many ideas, but nothing has helped yet. I know that VE Pro 7 is going through some growing pains right now and I'm really hoping to resolve this soon.

The one thing that occurred to me, and I'm really not smart enough to know, is that I wonder if the cloud-based iLok could have anything to do with it. I don't know how that works exactly, but maybe there's a constant checking of the validity of the connection or something? Like I said, I'm really not smart enough to be saying these things with conviction, but it came to mind and I thought it might be worth mentioning.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks good folks!

7.[SOLVED] Help. I think I broke my Synchron Player. 1/16/2023 2:10:47 PM

Hi Paul, thank you.  I got the issue resolved, but I'll still give you the info, in case it may help someone else or in further development.

I am on Windows 11, Synchron Player Ver 1.2.220, and Cubase 12.040

Additionally, I'm copy-and-pasting from another forum, the solution or work-around below:

"Ok, I've figured it out, or at least how to alter my display settings so that it will work.

I have three monitors: 24" Left - 43" 4K TV Center - 24" Right.

1) When having the issues, my center TV/Monitor was set as the main display in Windows 11 display settings. Changing the main display to either of the other two monitors fixed all the issues I was having with the Synchron Player. I moved the player to all three screens and it worked fine on any of them.

2) Then seeing Ben's last replay on the thread, I instantly knew that I had indeed changed the scaling of this monitor. Yes it's a big screen, but 100% is a bit small and I had read where others were using 150%, so that's what I was using as well. So, I set the center 4ktv/monitor as the main display again, and then set my scaling at 100%. That also fixes the visual issues with the Synchron Player.

So now I just need to decide which of the two fixes works best for me. Changing the dedicated main display to one of the side monitors, or changing the scaling back to 100% on the 4K and get used to the size of everything on it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions for troubleshooting, as that is exactly what got me to this conclusion! This forum truly is the best. I hope the thread helps someone else as well!"

8.[SOLVED] Help. I think I broke my Synchron Player. 1/15/2023 2:23:43 PM

I'm not sure why, but my Synchron Player is suddenly not behaving correctly.  I have many libraries for the player, and never had any trouble at all, but here are the issues I suddenly have:

1) When I mouse-over the browser and select a library, like Synchron Strings Pro, it does not act as it did before.  At first, I thought that there was a new, odd delay between the time I clicked the library and the time thart the menu would open to the next stage of the menu tree.  Then I realized, what is actually happening, is that, I click on one of the little triangle things, and then nothing happens at all, until I move my mouse at which point, it does open.  If I don't move my mouse at all, it will never open, and I know it wasn't this way before.  Oddly, if I am closing a part of the menu, it does indeed close, with a slight delay, just by clicking and with no additional mouse-moving.

2) I also noticed that when I am on the mixer tab, the meters are not working, even though I can hear the signals from whatever mic signals are available.  However, if I am moving my mouse cursor anywhere across the front of the Synchron Player, the meters look like they are flowing at a standard refresh rate, whatever that is.  In addition, the standard overall volume meter (not in the mixer) at the top of the player seems to work just fine, as does the midi monitor light.  So it's as though, everything below that top section, as well as the browser, won't visually refresh without mouse movement.  I don't know anything about this kind of stuff as far as how graphics and animations work inside of software, but that is what is happening in my Synchron Player, and it is unique to it.  Kontakt 6 is working fine.  Also, Cubase is working fine as well.  No issues with graphics at all.  I have 3 screens and the behavior is the same regardless of which screen I put the Synchron Player on.

3) I haven't been able to repeat this, but while messing around in Musca, to test-out all of what I've mentioned above, I suddenly got some random bit-related distortion, like a bit-crusher was coming in and out of the signal.  After I restarted Cubase I couldn't replicate that issue, so maybe that was a fluke.  I mention it just in case all this stuff means something collectively.

Now, as far as things I have done to make me wonder if it's because of me.

1) I did take the option in Vienna Assistant recently, to replace Synchron Strings 1 with the Optimized Content.  It was shortly after this that I noticed the issues, but I can't be positive that that's exactly when it happened, as I don't use Synchron Player everyday necessarily.

2) The other change I made, was that out of a 3-monitor setup, where my center monitor has always been larger than the other two, I replaced it with an even larger, 4k television.  When I did that, it took a minute to get everything going again with the right screen resolution and whatnot, but as I said, everything else has been working just fine, and I am using the same Windows generic Display drivers as I was for my previous monitor.

I've got nothing but love for VSL, the products and the Synchron Player.  Help me figure this out, please, so that I can continue to have fun composing instead of posting in your forum, haha.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Eric

9.Synchron Strings Professional Violas, no close mic? 1/1/2023 9:26:50 PM

I'm not super familiar with the sample file structure of the VSL stuff, but on the sample drive with my VSL libraries, I do indeed have  a folder named "Synchron Strings Pro - iLok" and in that folder I can see files for all the mic positions.  There is indeed an "SY-Strings-Pro_Violas_01_Close.syvolume".  I'm assuming that's what I need in order for this mic position to work.

Sorry, to add more detail, I am on Windows 11 Pro, Cubase 12 Pro.

10.Synchron Strings Professional Violas, no close mic? 1/1/2023 6:20:06 PM

I'm finding it difficult to really find mixer presets for the perspective I want even though there are many.  They are all too wide for my liking, so I decided to go on a mission to create my own, basic mixer presets, at least as a starting point.  I realy wish there was more information on the different microphone channels, but that's ok.

Here is my first issue so far.  After creating presets for Violins 1 and 2, I opened a Violas patch, loaded the "Default" preset in the mixer, and then started adjusting the mics, but when I did, I realized that the Close Mic channel won't turn on, nor can I change the level of that microphone.  It's as if it isn't available.  It this correct, or am I missing something here?

2nd issue; The Mid Mic is stuck at the default level and is unadjustable. If I move the slider, it just snaps back to -5.3. I really don't understand this, and I do have the Full version with all mic positions.

The presets I've been making are just a little combination of Close and Room mics, levels adjusted, and Power Panned into the stereo field as I see fit.  It seems a shame that this mic isn't available as I really like having a super close sound for some situations, and it's where I'd like to default.

Can anyone confirm this finding or give me any other insight?

Thanks!

11.Musca Legato issue? 12/12/2022 2:58:09 PM

I apologize if I am missing something obvious.  I LOVE this and all my other VSL libraries, but I'm either stumbling upon a bug or I just don't understand how this library is supposed to function.

I have loaded the VelFX Sus-Mod > "High & Low Str (BBO L&M)  XF sus" patch.   When I activate the Legato keyswitch, I can hear that there is a faster attack vs the Longs keyswitch, but it still doesn't cutoff the previously played note, as-in, I can basically still play chords.

I also realize that I can use the "Low Strings" patch and get the legato I am looking for.  I guess I don't understand why the first patch I mentioned has a Legato keyswitch, if that isn't how it sounds?  As I said, I have no doubt there is a logical explanation that I'm just missing. Can someone help me understand what's going on?

12.What's the best way to produce this technique? 10/8/2022 2:22:40 PM

Man, that's a pretty creative idea.  I'll give it a shot, thank you.

13.What's the best way to produce this technique? 10/6/2022 11:11:22 PM

Hi folks.  I hope everyone is doing well!  I am trying to write a string line, currently with Celli and Violas with Synchron Strings Pro.  It is basically an arpeggiated pattern, with legato>agile (although regular legato works just as well), but playing each note of the arpeggio twice.  I am definitely imagining that it would be the bowing that makes the distinction of the two same notes in the pattern.

For instance the arpeggio is playing a C minor triad, up and down, as G-G-C-C-Eb-Eb-C-C, and I want it to have that 1/8 note drive of a bowing pattern going Up-Down-Up-Down-Up-Down-Up-Down.  The Celli actually sound pretty good doing this, but the violas have a really strong 1/4 note feel instead, like they don't react the same to the repeated note, so it almost just sounds like half the notes in a 1/4 note pattern.

I have tried layering with staccato or spiccato, very lightly, but by the time I can hear it, it's already too much.

Any suggestions?  I guess this really comes down to re-bowing, and my way of doing that, is basically just to leave the sustain pedal down, but maybe there is a better way? Or just a different technique that could help me achieve this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

14.I don't understand which updates I need/have 9/11/2022 4:42:35 PM

So I have a few Synchron-ized Special Editions, some Synchron-ized Collections, and also some Synchron libraries.  I of course, also have the Synchron Player and Vienna assistant.  Occassionally, I check the Vienna Assistant to make sure I have all the available updates.  But then under My Downloads, there are various Synchron Library Updates. I don't understand if I already have these updates, from the Vienna Assistant, or if they are separate from that.  How can I check the version or update number of my various Special Edition and other libraries?

Thank you.

Ah, ok thanks.  I am really bad about RTFM, haha.  I appreciate the help.

16.[SOLVED] Can't load from the "Patch" tab? 4/9/2022 1:28:33 PM

Call me slow, but I just realized that the Patch tab has individual articulations, and it's really my preferred way of working with other libraries, and has slowed my use of VSL, just because my workflow is a bit sloppy for keyswitches all the time.  But, I can't seem to get any of the patches to load.  I'm just double-clicking on the articulations but nothing happens.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

17.Why not unified control between libraries? 3/20/2022 12:09:14 PM

I'm really just curious.  I know that I can set this up myself, but it just seems odd that in my Synchron-ized Chamber Strings, XF Velocity is CC2, as opposed to CC1 in Synchron Strings Pro?

18.New PC, Cubase can't find Synchron Player 1/30/2022 3:03:03 PM

Well, I feel silly, but I just uninstalled and re-installed, adding the VST2 version.  I was just trying to install the VST3, but now both have shown up.  At least I solved that much.  Now to point the plug-in at my library folders.....

19.New PC, Cubase can't find Synchron Player 1/30/2022 2:56:26 PM

Hi folks!

I just finished this brand new build and have everything running great on Windows 11 with Cubase 11 Pro, but after installing my Vienna software, I can't see the Synchron Player anywhere in Cubase's plugin list.

I copied my "VSL Instruments" folder form my old PC, and copied it onto a new hard drive in my new PC.

I then proceeded to login-to My Vsl, downloaded the latest Synchron Player and Vienna Ensemble Pro.

After running both installers, I opened Cubase and can only see Vienna Ensemble Pro as well as "Vienna Ensemble Pro Event Input" (I'm not even sure what this is yet).  I can not see the Synchron Player anywhere in the list, and it is not "Black-Listed" either.

I can indeed see an icon labeled "Vienna Synchron Player"  at C>Program Files>Vienna Synchron Player, but I don't think it's the VST3 file (I guess).  I pointed Cubase at this folder as an addtional folder to find plugins, and that did not resolve the issue either.

I have a brand new film to start as of this morning, and I would really love to have this final piece of the puzzle put together.

Any ideas?  Please and Thank You!

20.[SOLVED] Some Big Bang libraries not showing in Synchron Player 9/20/2020 7:14:58 PM

Ah yes, you are correct!  Thank you.  I just recently started using my slave computer again, and didn't realize that I put those licenses on the other Vienna key.  Thanks so much!

21.[SOLVED] Some Big Bang libraries not showing in Synchron Player 9/20/2020 7:01:17 PM

Good point Paul. No they are not.  What did I do wrong?

22.[SOLVED] Some Big Bang libraries not showing in Synchron Player 9/20/2020 3:33:02 PM

I own Synchronized, woodwineds, Chamber Strings, Special Edition 1 and Plus, as well as BBO, BBO Andromeda, and BBO Black Eye.  Unfortunately, BBO (the original) and Black Eye don't show up in the Synchron player.  All my other libraries, including Andromeda show up just fine in the browser.  I can see all the folders in File Explorer (Windows 10) and they are all there.  The settings in the Synchron player shows the paths to them as well.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

23.Special Edition Volume 1 String Portamentos sound muted? 1/4/2020 3:01:12 PM

I have to agree whole-heartedly. I am LOVING my new investments in VSL overall, but something certainly went wrong with those particular samples.

24.What is the Synchron future mission? 12/26/2019 10:16:04 PM

Thank you Paul. Looking forward to seeing what else comes out.

25.What is the Synchron future mission? 12/26/2019 9:23:33 PM

First off, I'm new to VSL other than VE Pro but recently bought into some of the Synchronized libraries.  I'm already a big fan!  So far I have purchased SE 1 and 1-plus, SE 3, Woodwinds, and Chamber Strings, all in the Synchron format.  What I'd like to know though, is how many more libraries will be brought over from the older VSL libraries?  How many more articulations?  For instance, I now have Synchronized Woodwinds, but are there going to be more woodwinds brought over, because I am assuming there is still a LOT of sample content that is only available in the Vienna Sample player?  I only ask because I'd love to see/have more.

Thanks!
