1.Adding a new VI to Synchron Stage MIR Pro venue: default postition is OUT OF STAGE!!! 7/27/2018 1:59:43 PM

Then I’m expecting you may replicate the issue.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this issue here either. Could you please send me more details about your system and software versions - and maybe a more detailed description of how to reproduce this?

When I add a bunch of new VI Pro instances in VE Pro, the instruments are added in rows of 11 instruments, x postions in a range of -5.5m to 5.5m. Any zooming or scrolling did not change this.

What is your default instrument type? And how do you add instruments (with the button in the lower left corner, via the Mixer tab,...)?

Thanks a lot, Florian

2."Force output channels"? 3/31/2017 7:44:09 AM

For me this also works on Windows with VST. You can see 5 channels playing in the screenshot attached. Reaper recognized MIR Pro as an 8 channel VST plug-in, I can set up to 8 output channels in the plug-in pin connector. I did not use the "Force output channels" option.

Is there any setting concerning plug-in channels you might have changed in Reaper?

https://goo.gl/photos/wTezk31YHF5kS6Dd9

Any idea why?

Hi Nektarios,

yes, I think I know what's going on there:

Could you please press F7 to open the MIRx setting window and click:
"Current MIR Pro Icon" ->  "MIRx SETTINGS"
This should work and allow you to set the MIRx Preset "Orchestra" for the Dimension Violas.

The context menu does not work here, since there is onle one MIRx preset available for Dimension Violas. I guess the context menu was designed to change the MIRx preset and not to initially set it. Since you cannot change this preset (since there is only one), the menu is disabled.

I'll check if we can change the context menu and show all MIRx presets there - even if there is only one single preset available.

5.Dimension Basses natural volume inconsistency? 10/19/2016 4:54:15 PM

Is this intended? If so why such a huge difference in volume?

Hello,

that's not intended, -15 dB is also the correct volume for the Dimension Basses.

This is a bug and is already fixed, a new installer for Vienna MIR Pro will be available by tomorrow.

Thanks a lot for reporting this and please excuse the troubles.

6.Bug in MIR 8/10/2016 3:46:20 PM

I just did another test:

In the menu entry  "Options -> Preferences" I disabled the option "Dynamic Processing". Now your test scenario works without any remaining direct signal. This might be a first option to make sure that you get consistent rendering results.

Best, Florian

7.Bug in MIR 8/10/2016 3:23:41 PM

Thank you very much for your report, I just managed to reproduce this problem in Cubase, as you described it.

Some parameters in Vienna MIR Pro are being smoothed to avoid clicks, e.g. when you switch on an EQ or switch off the direct signal. This parameter smoothing is only performed while audio is running.

As soon as I was playing audio for a few seconds before recording the output signal, the output signal is fine. Loading a project and recording the output signal immediately works also fine, the only critical case is the one you've described: changing parameters after loading a project while audio is not running and then recording it immediately.

I'm afraid this problem occurs 'by design' and is not a bug that can be fixed. I'll look into it to confirm this, and I'll check why the parameter smoothing is not completed after one second - normally after 100ms all parameters should be completely up to date.

Best regards, Florian

Distance Dependent Scaling is a feature which only affects the volume of the dry signal. If this is ON, the volume of the dry signal of each instrument will change depending on the distance between the microphone positions and each instruments position (more distance -> less volume).

Does this button really change the reverb output on your system?

If that's not related, it would be good to know what audio buffer size your host application is using and what latency you've set in the MIR preferences.

Thank you, Florian

Hi Aric,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having troubles. What host do you use with MIR Pro?

Could you maybe send your project to me via document.write( '<'+'a'+' '+'h'+'r'+'e'+'f'+'='+'"'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'0'+'9'+';'+'&'+'#'+'9'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'0'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'0'+'8'+';'+ '&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'6'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'1'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'8'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'1'+';'+ '&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'3'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'4'+'8'+';'+'&'+'#'+ '3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'4'+'8'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+'7'+'0'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+ ';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'0'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'2'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+ '#'+'5'+'2'+';'+'&'+'#'+'4'+'8'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+ '5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'1'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+'6'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'0'+';'+ '&'+'#'+'6'+'9'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'1'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+ '7'+'0'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'0'+';'+'&'+'#'+'6'+'9'+';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+'4'+'9'+ ';'+'&'+'#'+'3'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'5'+'2'+';'+'"'+'>'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+ '1'+'1'+'2'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'2'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'1'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'4'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'6'+';'+'&'+'#'+'6'+'4'+ ';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'8'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'5'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'0'+'8'+';'+'&'+'#'+'4'+'6'+';'+'&'+'#'+'9'+'9'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+ '1'+'1'+';'+'&'+'#'+'4'+'6'+';'+'&'+'#'+'9'+'7'+';'+'&'+'#'+'1'+'1'+'6'+';'+'<'+'/'+'a'+'>'); ">? Then I can have a look at the details and figure out what's going on.

10.Latency setting 3/7/2015 1:38:59 AM

How should I decide between setting the latency to 0 or setting it to some value greater than the host buffer size?

As long as your project is running fine without drop-outs or too much cpu-load, you should set the MIR latecy to 0. Then your total latency will be defined by the buffer size.

If you need to reduce the processing load, increasing the latency size will help to do that. Setting between zero and the host buffer size do not help in this case, you need to use a value higher than the host buffer size to see any improvement.

As long as you're fine with your total latency and procesing load, you could just stick to your current settings.

11.Impulse Response Cache Size 3/7/2015 1:31:56 AM

The cache is used to temporary store MIR impulse responses in RAM after they've been read from disk. That reduces the time to update the wet signal after you move an instrument or switch to a new venue (since reading from disk then can be skipped). It does not provide any benefit when you're running a 'static' project that is already set up.

While you're setting up a project, move instruments or switch venues the cache should be as large as possible (as long as you don't need the RAM to load samples). With a small cache size things might take a bit longer to update.

12.MIR Engine project problem 8/29/2014 12:54:43 PM

 Hello frantysek,

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. To have a closer look at this, it would be cool if you could send us one of those MIR projects and maybe also screenshots of the project before closing and after loading it. 13.Opportunity to make work with MIR on other (slave) computer 7/11/2014 12:24:20 PM

 Hi vosk,

just had a look at the video about your problem. I wonder if you already tried to change the audio buffer size or the MIR latency settings.

To get a better idea of what's going on on your system, it would be interesting if you could try:

- same audio buffer size, MIR latency set to 0
- larger audio buffer size, MIR latency set to 0
- larger audio buffer size and a larger MIR latency

Thank you, Florian

14.using MIR with mono instruments - which MIR effect plugin to use? 7/9/2013 12:35:55 PM

Hi Matt!

I tried to answer your questions below, please let me know if you have any further questions.

m-tron wrote:

when using MIR with mono instruments (e.g. dimension strings single players within VI Pro 2) within VE Pro 5, is it best to use the "Vienna MIR Pro > Mono to Stereo" or "Vienna MIR Pro > Stereo to Stereo" effects plugins? what i mean is, when you have a channel in VE Pro that you want to bring into MIR, and you click on the "EFFECTS +" area of the channel, which of those two choices are the most efficient, or is there really a difference?

In this case "Vienna MIR Pro > Mono to Stereo"  is the best choice!

It uses only one input channel (the left one, in case of a stereo signal), which should reduce CPU usage a lot. Since there's some overhead it won't be 50%, but much less than a stereo MIR instrument.

m-tron wrote:

i would have assumed that since the audio is mono, it might save on processing power to use the mono version of the plugin (with most plugins, that saves a lot of CPU cycles).  but in watching the MIR videos and when reading the manuals, all of the VSL examples seem to show mono instruments inserted into MIR using the stereo plugin

I think that's just caused by the fact that the mono version of MIR instruments was added later when the Dimension Instruments came up. I guess stereo instruments is the common case for most users, but we should add a hint in the manual anyways.

m-tron wrote:

can MIR detect when an instrument is mono and automatically save on processing power?

 No, that's not possible yet.

15.[SOLVED] Roompack Nag Screen 6/12/2013 11:18:40 AM

We could resolve this, just in case anybody else having similar troubles:

Please make sure there are no old RoomPack files in this folder: C:\ProgramData\VSL\Vienna MIR Pro

This is the location of the default data which is also checked for roompack files, besides the folder set in MIR Pro Preferences.

Thanks, Florian

16.Error message opening MIR 6/10/2013 2:52:55 PM

There was a problem with the update server, which has been resolved. Does the update check work properly for you as well now?

cheers, Florian

17.Error message opening MIR 6/3/2013 7:47:47 PM

We are already looking into this. The error message is caused by a problem with the update check. It's annoying and should be fixed, but it should not have any influence on audio results or your projects.

Could you please do a manual update check in Vienna MIR Pro and let me know if you get the same error message there?

Thank you, Florian

Hi Jules,

good to hear that everything's fine now!

It's been quite a while since we switched the RoomPacks to "v2". If there's no important old projects or other "compatibility reasons" to keep the old RoomPacks, you should just use new versions.

Best, Florian

20.[SOLVED] Mir Error: "There's No Roompack available ..." 4/29/2013 3:43:40 PM

Hi Jules,

which venue did you use in the project? Is it possible to create a new project using this venue on the same machine?

21.WHY WHY WHY does VIs registratoin and activation have ti be so complex? 4/30/2012 7:49:14 PM
andyjh wrote:

What is different with the r275 version over the r259 I am using?

All changes since r259 were only organizational - the installer for the trial roompack was changed, some license details changed and we exchanged some internal tools.

andyjh wrote:

Also noticed that the Mystic Spaces has gone to r119 rather my r114, what's the difference there too.

Same here - only one issue might be relevant: We re-added the stage-version of Steinhofkirche for compatibility with non-pro Vienna MIR. The stage-version was removed with r112.

22.MIR PRO on a slave? 12/5/2011 12:22:42 PM

Hi Clemens, here are some rough values for RAM usage of MIR Pro (64bit, stereo):

  • Studio 2 (IR-Length 1s): 225 MB Engine, 12MB per Icon
  • Teldex (IR-Length 3s):    460 MB Engine, 30MB per Icon
  • Steinhof (IR-Length 9s): 800 MB Engine, 50MB per Icon

With a surround setup the RAM usage for the engine is the same, for the icons it grows nearly analogical to the number of additional channels. For a 5.1-setup (6 channels) I get about 30MB per icon for Studio 2.

All those values were measured without laoding any VIs or other instruments. The values might be slightly different on your machine, depening on latency, soundcard audio buffer size, etc.

I hope that's sufficient for your new hardware design, please let me know if you have any additional questions.

24.Questions about MIR Pro 11/27/2011 6:34:07 PM

 Hi Marko,

it's possible to open old RoomPack files with MIR Pro, but not recommended. We had to add some additional meta data to the RoomPacks for MIR Pro, running MIR Pro without them could lead to missing information in the Venue Selection Dialog and strange level relations.

MIR Pro does not delete or overwrite MIR, you can run both side by side (sharing the same RoomPack files, the latest RoomPack files can still be used with MIR).

Unfortunately it's not possible to open any MIR project in MIR Pro.

all the best, Florian
