I did as you suggested & I'm happy to say I now have my sample libraries back & showing in the Vienna Instruments pro player.

Only the VTSi & AUi categories show in the Reaper library. Is this normal?

I have a feeling my VSL libraries are not in the right place, but I'm not 100% sure where they should be.

Hi All,

Have just sorted out the changeover to iLok Manager & activated all of my product licences.

Also upgraded Vienna Instruments to Vienna Instruments Pro - but now, when I open VIP, my libraries are not showing up in the 'Patches' area.

I'm obviously missing something - any help would be most gratefully received.

Just wanted to check something that has been bothering me for a while.

I have the Essential Orchestra with the  Bosendorfer piano.

I can't seem to perceive very much difference between the 'Pedal up' & the 'Pedal down' samples.

Maybe I have to change the parameters for each, or something?

O.K. I copied the sample content on to a brand new Sandisc 128 GB USB Flash drive. 

(I am using the libraries I downloaded to my Desktop area, then internal HD, a couple of days ago.

I have used them several times over - is this O.K)?

"Then open the Directory Manager... Remove all folders - then add all sample content again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer". 

I wasn't quite sure what you meant by "Finder/Explorer" - I looked in Finder but couldn't find the samples, so I copied them over into the Directory Manager from the new Sandisc USB drive.

Sorry - but still no result.

"I suspect that the external Multiport USB Adapter could be the culprit".

I removed the new Flash drive from the Multiport Adapter & plugged it into the iMac, to see if that was the cause of the problem - but, I'm afraid, still no change.

So, I bought 2 x Sandisc 64GB USB drives (these were the biggest I could find at the time) & redownloaded all my libraries onto these 2 drives (plugged into an external multiport USB adapter).

My first problem was that only the samples of one of the two drives was showing in the Vienna Instruments Browser - I could not get the samples in the 2nd drive to show at all.

So, I ejected the 2 drives & repeated the whole process - this time installing the libraries on the internal H.D. of my iMac:

MacIntosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST

Now, some of the libraries are showing up in the V.I. - but some are still not.

I checked the Directory Manager & found that all my libraries were in red print!

So I deleted & restored them, as per the VSL instructional video 'How To Use The Directory Manager (OS X)', but still no luck.

I am at a loss as to what to do next to get all my sample libraries back up & loaded in the V.I. browser.

I'd be really grateful for any helpful suggestions please.

Could I ask, please, is it possible to adjust the speed of portamento for the double bases in Special Edition Volume 1. I am trying to achieve a slow upwards sweep lasting 2 bars of 4/4.

Thanks very much for your explanation. As I said, I pretty much get the Midi stuff, but it's always good to have someone else's understanding on it. Thanks.

Truth is I couldn't get on very well with the TX16 when I first downloaded it a couple of years ago, so I put it to the back of my mind for a while!

So yesterday & today I've been working on it & managed to produce a simple program/preset, mapped to my keyboard. It works! I recorded a simple tune & messed around with the resultant Midi. Great! It's a start.

Of course my next question is:

How can I turn a set of my own recorded (audio) sound samples (processed through the Sampler TX16Wx) into an instrument/plugin that gives me that MIDI configuration (blocks) that I can work with & edit in my DAW?

Or am I just dreaming again!?

I understand some basics of what MIDI is.

What I can't seem to discover is this:

How does Vienna - or any of the other software companies - make their Audio recordings (the samples) appear in the Midi form, when I play & record, let's say, a violin solo on my DAW?

Probably a dumb question, but there we are. I admit to having no idea!

Does the magic take place in my computer - does it happen in the software - or 'non of the above'!?

Could anyone please help me with this?

Hi All - Problem solved (thanks to the guys at VSL Support). Very helpful. 

To cut a long story short - REAPER was turning the volume (Expression cc11) down to zero, but it was my oversight really.

No criticism of REAPER at all.

I've had VI for about 5 months now & everything has been great up until now. When I'm trying to play/record stuff the Expression Volume control keeps turning itself to zero!

This is really annoying as I have to keep turning the volume up manually.

Am I doing something to make this happen?
