1.MIR PRO 2d - Mac OS Monterey? 11/14/2022 12:49:41 PM

Hi,

I'm still using the full MIR PRO "2d"; I haven't updated it yet.

Is MIR PRO standalone version (using e-licenser for the standalone and iLok for other products) compatible with Mac Monterey?

Thank you,

Jacques

2.4 Mandolins, 4 Ukuleles, 18 Guitars and 1 Bass - MIR Pro 10/30/2022 1:22:08 PM

I've just posted another video using MIR PRO Syncron Stage to position all the instruments. Hope you enjoy it!

I've tried other room packs since I own all of them, but the Syncron Stage has a warm sound which really helps plucked instruments. I'll try some Bach and churches in the future. Maybe Brandenburg nº3?  :)

It's the Allegro from the Serenade in G Major, K. 525 "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," using the following instruments:

8 Mandolins and 8 Ukuleles as the 1st Violins
8 Mandolins and 8 Ukuleles as the 2nd Violins
3 Nylon Acoustic Guitars and 3 Steel Acoustic Guitars as the Violas
3 Nylon Acoustic Guitars and 3 Steel Acoustic Guitars as the Cellos
and 3 Electric Acoustic Basses as the Double Basses
  "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" - Allegro

3.4 Mandolins, 4 Ukuleles, 18 Guitars and 1 Bass - MIR Pro 10/18/2022 2:51:06 PM

Hey friends,

I thought this would interest some MIR PRO users like me.

I've arranged and performed Beethoven's 1st Movement of "Moonlight" Sonata to 4 Mandolins, 4 Ukuleles, 18 Guitars, and 1 Bass. Then, I used the Syncron Stage Wide to position all the instruments. Fun!

I've posted it on my recently released YouTube channel:

Best,

Jacques

4.MIR Pro crashes Logic X 7/28/2020 2:46:30 PM

In the meantime, I did find a workaround because downgrading to previous versions of Logic wasn't possible for me (doing so deleted Melodyne ARA data). The trick is: I NEVER USE THE KEYBOARD FOR LOGIC COMMANDS WHILE THE MIR WINDOW IS SELECTED. I found that if I select the Logic Pro X window BEFORE USING KEY COMMANDS IN LOGIC, like for example, hitting the space bar to play the song, then there's no crash. I can then RESELECT the MIR window and do anything I want within it while the song plays. Then, BEFORE STOPPING playback, I RESELECT THE LOGIC PRO X WINDOW or else the application crashes. It's a pain, and I've made a misstep here and there, but I've found it workable in the short term. Can't wait for VSL to get this sorted, but hope this is helpful to people in the meantime.

Thanks for this tip, rwholloway. I've decided to come back to Logic 10.4.8, it wasn't a big problem to me. Can't wait to get it sorted as well, I've put off Logic update until I could finish some projects, I guess it will take even longer before I get my hands on 10.5.1!  :)

5.MIR Pro crashes Logic X 7/27/2020 9:52:30 PM

Just updated to Logic 10.5.1 on Catalina 10.15.4 and yes, opening MIR Pro will crash LOGIC within seconds.

6.MIR PRO 24 upgrade license question 5/27/2020 2:10:47 PM

Thank you, Dietz!  :)

7.MIR PRO 24 upgrade license question 5/26/2020 6:50:59 PM

Thanks Dietz,

I appreciate your answer.

Thanks for clarifying this. Ok, I'll get in touch with sales department. Mir Pro (full version) is starting to feel unavoidable (and preferable it seems) at this point. This thing is addictive - sounds awesome!

Best regards,

-JM

8.MIR PRO 24 upgrade license question 5/26/2020 4:18:13 PM

Hello everyone,

I'm currently ending my MIR PRO 24 trial and I've decided to buy it with all Room packs and update it later to the full version. I've a question regarding the license: After I upgrade to the full version, will I retain a license to MIR PRO 24 (therefore owning 2 licenses), or will my MIR PRO 24 become a full version license, allowing me to load it only on a single computer?

Thanks a lot for any input.

Best regards.

JM

9.My first post. Special Edition demo. 4/10/2009 5:41:01 PM

LazyPeon,

Thanks for posting!

I didn't try anything pretty complex with this piece. Instead it is built upon some "Hollywood" usual cliches, well at least it is what i've tried.

However, there are some passages ( the repeated notes as an example ), that would sound a lot better if i had more articulations.

If you create a serie of staccato notes - in cresc - the staccato patches will give you enough. But if your attempt is "repetead notes at the same velocity/intensity", two versions of the staccato per velocity isn't enough. But, by using Sfz and Stacatto samples - woodwinds - you can add variation. With strings it is a bit more easier, since you have more articulation to chose from, when repeating the same note, quickly.

Anyway, i am happy you guys think it is good for Special Edition Wink

Thanks.

10.Complete "The Rite Of Spring" performed by Jay Bacal 3/11/2009 1:49:43 AM

Hey Jay,

Long time, no see! Times were difficult last year Wink

As always, you did an amazing job!

Your attention to all these details is an example that should be followed. Wink

Keep up the great work!

Hope you get a bit of rest now! Smile

Cheers!

Wow, the new piece is great! congratulations. Can you tell us about your working "method", which reverb you used, eq, etc?. Congrats again.

Thanks again.

Like i said before. These are my initial attempts with VSL. I love using VSL, and the possibility of thinking more in the way i use to think when i am dealing with real players. I was about to compose some other demos last year, but got some personal issues that avoided me. Now, i am back. More to come...Smile

To be honest, in The Labyrinth, i didn't use any convolution reverb. It was only Easy Verb from PSPaudioware. I have built Early reflections by using its "ambience" algorithm , and applied tail reverb with the "Hall" algorithm. Just that. All the EQ process was handled by PSP plugins, again.

"Adventures in the Lost World" was different. I have used REVerence, since i had just got Cubase 5 when mixing it. I didn't try composing anything very different, just wanted it to be cool.

Really happy you like!

Jacques: Your piece "The Labyrinth" is the greatest demo of the Special Edition available, in fact when i heard it last year i was inmediately convinced to buy the SE. Great work.

P.S: I have listened to your demos for the Broadway Big Band too, you have both great arranging/composing skills as well as excellent programming chops. Well done buddy.

Hey felliniflex!

Thanks for the nice words! I am happy to know you decided to buy when you listened to it, last year!

These are my first attempts by only using VSL, glad you like!

Cheers!

Hello,

It is my first post here!

I thought i should post a piece and say hi to everyone. Smile

Last week i had a chance to compose a piece by using only Special Edition, here it is:

Adventures in the Lost World

And there is another one, called "The Labyrinth", that has been posted on Special Edition demo's page:

Glad to be here, and i hope to learn from all you guys! Smile
