Thank you for your sunday reply, I really appreciate it!

"Vienna Ensemble x64.dll" is located in C:\Programfiles\VSTPlugins.

I´ve made Sibelius rescan the folder severaltimes. It rescan successefully all my plugins except for Vienna Ensemble. Vienna Instruments & VI Pro do show in the devices list.

I should mention that the installer does not seem to install VST2 anymore and neither there "Steinberg" folder were installed like it used to.

I ´m not using 32 bit versions but it was a desperat try to solve things.

What should I try next?

Hi Andi,

I´m facing a similar problem.

Vienna Ensemble does not show in the devices even though the folders are properly set.

I´ve just formatted my PC and I´ve installed the latest versions of Sibelius, Vienna Ensemble, Vienna Instruments and Vienna Instruments Pro. I´ve even reinstalled all of them to see if would help but it didn´t change anything.

What should I do?

I can't reproduce such a problem here and don't know where it comes from. If you can't find a better solution, you can at least turn off the option "Play notes as you edit" in the Sibelius preferences under "Note Input".

I´m also running on an i7, 16GB RAM and SSD. and I´m having the same issue. Adding more RAM can speed things up?

(Turning this "Play notes as you edit" option off seems to work out fine. Thank you for the tip!)

Hi Andi!

The same kind of problem continues. Now the bass drum triggers the tamtam. I can only guess it occurs because they´re the only instruments without a sound id in PB config. Can´t find out what I´m missing. Can you please check the XML and viframe64 files for this configuration? (I´ll send them through email.) Thank you.

Hi Andi!

I added the Tamtams & Gongs library to my collection but have some doubts concerning its use within Sibelius.

First problem is that the Tamtams are played from the SE Vol. 1 PERCUSSION & MORE Cymbals & Gongs matrix rather that the actual Tamtams & Gongs library. I couldn´t find a way to contour this id problem throught Preferred Sounds in the Playback Configuration in Sibelius. If I choose to only use the Tamtams & Gongs I´d lose the Cymbals samples in the SE.

Second problem is using three different Tamtam sizes in the score. I know I can setup 3 different T-ts in both VE & Sibelius and it should work. But I´d like to know if it is possible to use the most common in orchestral scores the 3 line percussion notation using Sibelius Instrument Editor. When I try to assign sounds for the note heads, Sibelius open a window so huge that it occupies the whole screen with all the sounds in VE Percussion>Cymbals>Metal. The problem is that you cannot access sounds futher than "CrashCymbals Rods ChokeLong Ring" so the tamtams sounds are somewhat "unnavailable". How can I fix that?

I can't seem to find how to work with VSL Special Edition Percussion and Sibelius at all.

I'm writing for three percussionists within an orchestra. How do I change instruments, from Glockenspiel to Tam-Tam (1-line) for instance, in the same staff? I could only change from Glock to Tam-tam 5 lines (that recognizes the percussion matrix) but still I have to write a G6 for Sibelius to play the Tam-tam. 

Furthermore from the problems between Eb and Bb Clarinets I've told you before, I could only get the Tuba to work when I add an F Tuba in my score. I cannot possibly imagine why but this was the only way it could sound. And I couldn't get Sibelius to see the difference between the Trombones Mute A and Mute B presets.

Please help! I'm already overdue with a composition I have to deliver in a couple of months and so far it has been a nightmare trying to solve these issues. I've been over and over through manuals and forums but yet so far I have stumbled in problems rather than solutions.

I'm using Sibelius 7.5 and do not dare to come near Sibelius mixer!

I'm using 3 different staves for 3 clarinets. 1 doubles Eb Cl and 3 doubles Bass Cl.  But even if I use 1 staff I can't switch between Bb and Eb.

For the other woodwinds I had no trouble making instrument changes. I have 3 different staves for 3 flutes and switch 1 for the doubling piccolo and 3 for alto flute with no problem at all. I have assigned channel 1 for piccolo, 2 for flute and 3 for alto flute.

But when it comes to the clarinets i can't switch between Eb and Bb no matter what I try. And even switching between Bb and Bass Bb requires me to assign more channels for Bb Cl or else when I make the instrument change for Clarinet 3, Clarinet 2 stops sounding.

I tried to use "none" Sound Set in the Playback Devices within Sibelius and I could find a sound ID for Eb Clarinet: "wind.clarinets.eb". Is this the root of the problem? It seems that Sibelius cannot find the difference between the Clarinets and only interpretates MIDI channel assignements.

I am writting for an orchestra with the following instrumentatio: 3333-4331-tmp+3-hp- cel/pno-cds. It's a quite large orchestra so I really need to be able to make instrument changes rather than assigning an individual staves for Eb Clarinet and Bass Bb Clarinet. I'm also short on RAM (4GB) and my iMac can't expand witch is really dreadful...

Hello Andi,

I cannot make Sibelius change instruments between Eb Clarinet and Bb Clarinet. I have 3 channels in VE, one for Eb Cl, one for Bb Cl and one for Bass Clarinet. The channels are properly assigned between the Playback Devices and VE. They test perfectly but the samples in Sibelius only read channel 1 and 3 in VE. What's wrong? Please help! I am working with a large orchestra and have already wasted too much time trying to solve this simple issue.
