Hi Karel - thnx for the info.... and DG, I get how you are using the system now - I am sure that is nice and solid.
Hey Karel on another note - I am using a MAC PRO intel as Main DAW and a G5 2.5 PPC as a Slave - now I know that my G5 PPC is not 'supported' but in any event I have installed VE Pro on both systems and loaded servers in correct order - then loaded the DAW (Logic 9.1 32 bit) on my mac pro and instantiated the VE PRo plugin in Logic.
Now - while i can trigger audio on the VE pro instance on the slave G5 computer by using the G5 mouse on the onscreen GUI piano keyboard and hear it in the appropriate server channel on my Mac Pro - I am unable to get the midi to transmit from my mother kbd thru the server from the MacPro to the g5.
However - if i set up additional midi ports thru MOL and instantitae them on slave I can use them - but the latency is obviously terrible.... and if I start VE Pro in standalone mode on my G5 and utilise Midi over LAN and route audio outputs to the sound card on the slave and use the lightpipe to get them into my Mac Pro - again all no problem... but with the small amount of latency you would expect....
But I really want to run the G5 in it's server mode and do midi and audio down the LAN cable.........SO..... I just seem to have an issue with the midi going down the VEPRO server port and being picked up by the G5 Slave. Do you have any idea why that might be?? Are there any known issues with G5's / PPC's as slaves?? I am sure other people have got this working..... anybody???
BTW I am running 10.6.2 (with 18GB RAM) on the Mac Pro - and 10.5.8 on the G5 (with 4.5GB RAM)
Can you help?? ....... or should I just quit crying like a girl and get my money out like a man and buy another 8 core Mac Pro / 64 bit PC slave ;)
Many thanks for a fantastic product in VE Pro by the way - it is GENIUS and really open the systems up - wonderful.
:)
